This man ain't doing a god damn thing in the polls tonight...
Sounds to me like everybody's just raising the challenge flag, and calling bullshit.

I think Longcat is a pretty cool guy. eh is loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong and doesn't afraid of anything.
Well, obviously.
Those of us who trumpet the idea that Ron Paul is the real change candidate are all very pragmatic about it... I've stated repeatedly that he doesn't stand a snowball's chance. He allied himself with a Republican party who doesn't want the kind of change he represents. He says the Iraq War is unconstitutional, which it seems to be, but the Neo's ignore that... if you have enough dollar bills, you can cover the Constitution with them until you can no longer see it. He says the healthcare system's broken, but the Repubs must sell our healthcare system as the best in the world, otherwise it can't justify Big Pharmacol's raping of Medicare, Medicaid, and my HMO. He says our military forces are stretched thin and poorly managed, and Jesus Montague Christ, YOU CAN'T SAY THAT, despite the obvious facts that Bin Laden's still loose, the Taliban are all opium dealers, and Iraqi "insurgents" are strapping bombs on retarded women.
He was doomed in the Grand Old Party, where it's business (and I do mean business) as usual until late November 2008, when they can again turn their attention to special prosecutors, presidential BJ's and such.
Oh, and he wouldn't have done any better as a Dem. The infighting's bad enough over there, without throwing a fiscal conservative in the mix.
Too bad there's no room for original thought and personal conviction in government. America suffers for it.------>JMS

I also get a kick out of how it was a big deal that these women suicide bombers were retarded. I mean, for fucks sake I already figured anyone who strapped a bomb to themselves and ran into a building to blow themselves up was retarded. It was pretty much a given.

He is probably referring to Article I, section 8 granting Congress sole power to declare war.Merge wrote:I'm curious. When Ron Paul states that the war in Iraq is unconstitutional, what amendments does he point out??
Some argue that the resolution that authorized the Iraq war was not a formal declaration of war, but a resolution that authorized the President to take whatever action was necessary. The unconstitutional argument is that Congress cannot transfer its sole power to declare war to the President.

Well, I have it on good authority that His middle name actually IS Hank, but He hates that name (it comes from an uncle on his Dad's side, and Uncle Hank has a cleft palate and it creeps Him out) so he uses Montague. So, when you say your prayers tonight, whatever you do, don't call Him Hank, man. I did once as a joke, and the next day, I got cancer.DrumAndDestroy wrote:probably hankDirtySanchez wrote:I always thought his middle name started with an H.

I'm impressed that you remembered to capitalize the "H" in "Him," "He" and "His" ... although you missed a "He" and a "His."songsmith wrote:Well, I have it on good authority that His middle name actually IS Hank, but He hates that name (it comes from an uncle on his Dad's side, and Uncle Hank has a cleft palate and it creeps Him out) so he uses Montague. Ron Paul's done. Thank God.

He may not "officially" be done, but scaling your staff back, to focus on a Congressional re-election in Texas... pretty much saying he stands absolutely ZERO chance.
Fuck em.

I would rather see him get into congress, that way people can get an opinion of what he votes like.Barfight wrote:Ron Paul's done. Thank God.

Rob, you may find this site somwhat helpful (read some of his speeches, they're fantastic). I think you'll find his record speaks for itself:RobTheDrummer wrote:lonewolf wrote:This is his 10th term in the House.RobTheDrummer wrote: I would rather see him get into congress, that way people can get an opinion of what he votes like.

Personally, I find the reinforcement that "there will be no third party run" quite disheartening. I don't see any point without the option of Paul running on an independent ticket. Some "Republican" pundits are already beginning to voice a preference for Hillary over McCain, completely ignoring Ron Paul. The party is not going to give him the endorsement, ever.

Ive said it before, and I'll say it again. This man ran for president in 1988 when the best 2 choices for President were George H-W Bush, and Michael Dukakis (spelling?), who are two of the biggest morons on earth. If Ron Paul couldn't have made a difference then... he sure as fuck would never in this election.
People should have an idea of how he votes... he's been in the system for fucking forever. He was this year's Howard Dean.. helluva internet mover, but the people who promised to come out for him, well... uh... they stayed at home, filling out surveys on myspace.
That's the truth of it.

I saw the man speak in Pittsburg....h.Packed house.Very moving. He's everything our party has been bitching about for years. But like a good friend said to me yesterday"now that we have the man for the job in our hands....the Reps turn their backs and let idiots like Sean turn him into a wacko."It's a fing shame.

Word! I'd have loved to see Ron get all the attention Ross Perot got when he ran. Of course, the talkshow wangs had to demonize him, because he wanted to end the partisan bullsh*t gridlock and undo the stranglehold of only having two parties. Rushy did the same for Ron Paul.
Ron Paul would have done far better had he broken away from the party that marginalizes him. His is the only true grassroots campaign I've seen in the last 15 years, but hey, it's about the Party, not the People.--->JMS
