This was on the Tribune-Democrat website for Sunday 2-3-08.

"Boro to oversee noise enforcement"

EBENSBURG – At the request of owner Shane Caylor, Borough Council members on Monday agreed to assume local responsibility for noise enforcement under the Pennsylvania Liquor Code.

The former owner of the Castle Pub on North Center Street had difficulty complying with the state’s strict noise enforcement, and the liquor agency allows local municipalities to enforce that portion of liquor laws locally, borough Manager Dan Penatzer told the council.

The borough has a noise ordinance in place, and local control would involve amplified music coming from the bar.

Could this be a beneficial step in the right direction???

Possibly. I'd feel a lot better having local police taking care of the noise ordiance. It's one thing if people call and complain about the noise. It's another when the PLCB feels like employing gestapo tactics and arbitrarily sending an officer to a bar to cite them for a violation.

If you ask my opinion, considering the fact that there are no residences anywhere near The Castle Pub and yet they still have had complaint problems, I'd wager half my annual salary that the complaints over the years have come from another, competing club owner playing dirty pool.

I could be wrong but, knowing the "players" in Ebensburg, it frankly wouldn't surprise me one bit if the complaints came from "someone else" trying to clear his competition.

Jus' sayin'.
