Kudos to CASTLE PUB

Post by BDR »

In a music scene where there are limited venues and countless acts vying for gigs, HUGE THANKS to the new owners of CASTLE PUB for reopening a great venue after several years and giving more bands a chance to play on Friday and Saturday nights.

We played there Saturday night. Wasn't a huge crowd by any means (Roads were
lousy. Icey trip home), but we had a great time. The guys who work there were
really cool. Can't point that out enough. The food was GREAT! I think every one
of us at some point said "This is the greatest freaking thing I've ever had". AND,
the might Dawn, from KW was there.

We had a blast and look forward to being there again. We always seem to head
over to Ebensburg & Cresson when there's ice on the roads. Need to start consulting
the Farmer's Almanac a little more closely.

LOL! I love that you put KW instead of Kitty Whip. Have we reached STP level already? ;)

The Castle totally kicks ass! We played there Friday and it was one hell of a party. The staff all kicks major ass. This is turning into a cool club. They are still having issues with PLCB noise issues. When you go there to play be cool and work with the manager or make sure your sound guy knows not to take the stadium system. Too many sound fines and this place could shut down again. So just be careful. We wouldn't want to lose another good club to the PLCB.

Couldnt they soundproof the club or something to get the PLCB off their asses? prob takes a little $$ but it beats the hell out of getting closed down.

Even with soundproofing, it's still possible for noise to travel. Lower frequencies aren't as directional as higher frequencies, so they have a tendency to go through the ground.

Also, a tactic the PLCB has used in the past is standing by the door and when someone enters/exits the building, citing the bar because then "sound can be heard outside the establishment."

There's no such thing as sound proofing anyhow, only sound reducing. But as Paul said, all an officer has to do is stand near a door or window. The PLCB laws concerning sound are so vague that there is no way to prevent breaking them except to stop having music all together. Sad but true.

Unless it can totally dampen the sound, a club is most proabably wasting its time and money. Soundproofing may be beneficial just to keep your nieghbors relatively happy, but it's not going to completely keep the PLCB off of your back. You can get cited for ANY audible noise heard outside of your establishment, even a television.

Wouldn't mind taking SJ there, anyone have contact info? noise isnt much of an issue for us with no backline and edrums.
