Lets see your "Sound Equipment Pictures"
Lets see your "Sound Equipment Pictures"
I thought it would be interesting to start a thread of "show and tell" for sound equipment. So come on and show what your proud of. It doesn't matter what it is. If it does the job for you, show it off.

That's not exactly what I had in mind when I said "sound equipment" but your response time of 5 minutes and the sentimental factor buys you a "kudos".
But seriously. No reason to just limit this thread to sound equipment. Let it fly. This should make for a great read(with pictures).

Rob, is that the Edison Phonographic Soundifier, or Behringer's cheap knockoff? That looks like the 1878 model... I have the '79 model... it's Firewire-capable and has some pretty good mic sims, but they didn't start putting soft-synths in until 1880. Then they added electricity in '81.
I'd post some soundgear pics, but my stuff's pretty beat-up and cheap... like me.------->JMS

this is what is in front of me. i have a 49 key m-audio midi controller to my left. i also, have a vocal mic and pop blocker and a few other random things i got today. im building stands for the audio monitors, as they came today too. I have to finish the drawing in Intellicad of my desk that will house all of this and more, and i will then build it. i have to have it built within a month, because i expect to have a dedicated recording place in about that time. this setup is in our kitchen right now! its always expanding.

Do you use the Toneport as the front end? I have a Tapco Link USB, which really delivers as a USB interface, but the mic pre's are pretty weak (as in won't get loud enough, or "hot" enough), so tonight I'm adding my Mackie 1204 as a pre section. I also have a cheap Behringer USB interface (UCA202) that works really well for converting line signals like cassette decks to USB, but I've never tried it in a live-to-the-laptop situation.
Also, what kind of monitors are they, and why 2 sets? Monitors are my biggest problem, right now, I just use my little bookshelf stereo and laptop headphones, and A/B the mix until I get a happy medium. Nobody seems to complain, but I know I could do better.------>JMS

I use the Line 6 Toneport UX1 to record vox, guitar and bass. I LOVE it!!! the software that comes with it is awesome. awesome sounding effects and preamps.
ok, about the monitors, the smaller speakers are for just listening to mp3s or whatever. all non music stuff. they are Logitech x230's with a sub. sounds badass. the audio monitors are behringer ms40's. powered 40 watt monitors.

Ah, the old Altec VOT's. I think those are A-7's.
I believe they were designed to project to the back of the theater, look how deeply horn-loaded the drivers are. Thin Ice had a few sets for awhile... we played an outdoor show, and couldn't get the drums dialed in to save our lives... I decided to go take a leak while I thought abouit it, and as I walked to the restrooms, it kept sounding better and better as I walked further away from the mix site! 500 feet away, it was slamming!
Plus, they were heavy and hard to truck. And those Altec horns weren't quite as bad... they were nasal and also way bigger than necessary, but they never gave me the same fits as the A-7's.
I need to dig out some pictures of the "Boxcars" which constituted Thin Ice's PA front right before we started hiring Jeff Rittenhouse. The system originally was owned by the Gregg Allman Band, who sold it to George Jones, who sold it to Galaxy Audio, who sold it to us. It was loud as hell, but we had to rent a pretty large truck to haul it, and the double-Perkins horn-loaded bass bins wouldn't fit through a standard door. Many venues wouldn't allow us to set it all up, no matter how we promised to keep the volume down. We bought it, like a lot of bands then, because it was huge and, we thought, impressive. It was a giant PITA moving that stuff around, and when Ritt came along with a spanking new CSS frontline, we jumped at it. We still did the occasional job with the Boxcars, but only under extreme duress.
Ah, the memories made with a Sunn mixer, a Biamp crossover, a CS-800 amp, a 150W QSC for the highs, and an old theater speaker system.
Hey, we had fun when we used a Bogen tube head I stole out of an abandoned school for a PA, with Radio Shack stereo speakers as fronts. F**k with the dick ya got, I think the saying goes.

Speaking of vintage gear that takes me back, look at the MXR graphic and Kustom PA amp in the rack! Did you have an Effectron? LOL And cap it off with one of those old Tapco mixers I liked, with 6 channels, and if you wanted more, you got the 6-channel slave mixer; or maybe a Peavey MarkIII console.

Yes, MXR grephic EQ
And Yes, I had and still have a "Delta Lab Effectron ll" It's still my main digital delay. Bought it in 1983.
And you nailed the Tapco 6000R too. Still have it and occasionally use it. I love the thing. I modified it with switches and jacks to do all kinds of tricks.
Audio Equipment
Damn... And I thought my old Gollehons were heavy and awkward!
Nice picture Floodcitybrass. Nice gear too. I need to get some good shots like that.
I see what looks like 650's and LA400's but what are the cabs on each side of them? I have some of the same Yamaha monitors with plans to get more. But I can't seem to keep the rubber feet on them. I ordered a bunch more replacements and plan to switch to "T-nuts" to hold them on.
