It is sad to hear; talented young writers not get recognition for their efforts. It’s all about paying your dues. What makes a hit song? You have to get it out there. Cover bands have an opportunity to do just that. If your songs make people laugh, cry, dance or sleep. You’re doing it for them. They will respond... It gets better; they are hungry to be touched... As my Dad taught me you have to sing like you don’t need the money. They will invite you to the head of the table. A great leader must first be an excellent servant.
Play that request they hate, that extra song or 2 at then end of a long night, smile and be kind. . People will notice. If you hear them they will listen to you.

This isn’t about location it is anywhere you go. We all have the same needs. Calling hard working paying customers hillbillies is not the answer. Bloom where you are planted. It is all about the lesson.

The Ignorance and constant closed-mindedness throughout this thread testifies why the scene is tough for original and cover acts alike.

Half of the people in this area are Redneck simpletons. One third are so appalled by these rednecks they'll do anything to disassociate themselves from them. This can range from saying you hate freebird but secretly sing it in the shaower, to "Mom and Dad, I'd like you to meet my Fiancee Jamal, we just met at The Club Car last night. He's from Philly." The other third are what we call "free thinkers" the problem now is half of these people are probably in their own band(s), or at least have lives outside of a Bar room. Now how many people are we really catering too? My suggestion is play whatever you want, but understand your demographic.
Even a drunken redneck simpleton will pay cover, and buy a t-shirt if you can get some fine young ass in the door. I use the terms fine and young loosely.

I always wondered why in a country where corporate business is king, would business math be a such a remedial stoner haven?

Not complainin, just sayin.

Faulty math aside, I agree with future Pres. Sanchez 100% (no pun intended).

I also took business math in high school and then after that, I enrolled in accounting. Despite graduating college this May and applying to graduate school, I've never had an algebra class in my life.

just for the hell of it.

good thing is, geometry helps in more ways than just math. for instance, somebody with a good understanding of geometry could use that in billiards. hustla baby.

i guess i would also use some sort of algebra or other math every day to, playing poker. trying to work up percentages in my head during each hand.

Toolbox- a place where homeless drummers sleep. Usually found under bridges in metropolitan areas.
