NAMM Show starts tomorrow
In Anaheim. All that new stuff. I'm still waiting for a replacement for the Boss VF-1 and a midi sequencer/synth/vocal harmony processor/guitar pre/FX built into a 1/2 rack space.
Anybody going or there already?

They are in the process of discontinuing the GT-Pro rack processor and I was disappointed that they didn't come out with a new, smaller rack mount product. In the past, they haven't gone for very long without some kind of rack processor, so I look for them to come out with a rack version at the July NAMM.Team Transylvania wrote:Boss GT-10 !!!!!!!!!!

There are a few major differences from the prior GT's.
1)moved the volume control to the top panel
2)new power supply -- haven't seen it, but maybe its actually heavy duty and 20' long from the wall wart
3)Two all purpose control pedals instead of one - means fewer patches & banks needed playing live
4)big display with 4 multi-purpose knobs & data wheel instead of a jungle of buttons and knobs - probably a nice big tuner for the display.
One thing they didn't do that I thought would be good was add a footswitch to activate the tuner.

I got to go the NAMM show in 1990 when I lived in LA. It was really cool. Got to meet John Anderson - in a booth selling harps. (The finger kind, not mouth) And met Vivian Campbell - and Dann Huff of Giant. All were really nice and gracious. Probably didn't hurt that back then all us rock chicks had giant hair, wore lingerie for clothes and lots of makeup!

That is cool about the price I thought that was really steep for all the more it really does compared to it's predecessors.
The USB interface is a real nice add-on.
I went last year. One minute you're walking beside Dave Mustaine, the next it was Alan White from Yes. Lots of boutique gear, mammoth displays from the heavy hitters (especially Roland - saw Jordon Rudess there). Also went to a Yamaha get together hosted by Cheech Marin. Pretty cool. However, the show is really too crowded to get any serious business done unless one is a buyer for Guitar Center! The companies hustle them off to private digs, wine and dine them, the usual stuff. Me, I did get a bottle of water from Zildjian!

Nope, checked it out. Its a DC supply used with some of their keyboards. Its just another not even studio-worthy POS wall wart to crush underfoot. It has a detachable AC cord, so maybe they'll supply a 20' cable for that end...don't count on it.lonewolf wrote:2)new power supply -- haven't seen it, but maybe its actually heavy duty and 20' long from the wall wart.

pretty much the catch is for you to get invited to those private parties that are going on if you're looking to network with the musicians.rickw wrote:I went last year. I've had the chance to attend for the last 8 years at least and haven't made it out there yet.
The person below me enjoys a good spanking.

I like the Hohner stuff... a new wireless harp mic that looks very interesting, and a new 5 watt Class-A tube amp voiced and featured for blues harmonica, both very reasonably priced.
I think the amp, if it sounds as good as the feature-set suggests, will be a crossover for guitar players.------->JMS
