Why Hasn't There Been Any Recent Terrorist Attacks in USA ?
I mean, really, those (kill all) nuts are here in the United States. If they wanted to make a bomb and drive into a major public place, we couldn't stop them.
There are small, independent cells of radicals in the US. They can operate independently form the Bin Laden radicals (if they were aloud to) and cause chaos in the US. If 6 idiots get together and decide to bomb something, no listening on phone calls will catch them. They already know not to communicate by telephone or by Email. They could just meet and talk, as easily as that.
So why aren't they terrorizing us ? I really am curious. I have a theory, but it is a far reaching theory.
Any thoughts / opinions ?
Here is mine, although IT IS quite a reach.
Is Bush and the greatest military in the world so inept that they can't find Bin Laden. Or, do they know where he is. And do they have an agreement with him, to keep the terrorism out of the USA (for letting him go free). As stupid as this sounds, even to me, I can't figure out any other reasonable explanation for the lack of touristic attacks on the USA.

I don't pretend to know all of the details or anything, but my guess is that the CIA has probably driven many of the cells in the U.S. underground. Moving right now would probably most surely end in a plan being foiled, which of course, is a good thing for us. I'm not ignorant enough though to deny that there are probably cells here right now who are planning something big.

You could be right. That's certainly plausible. But it's hard for me to believe that they (Bush and company) can know everything that's going on here, and still not know where OBL is.whitedevilone wrote:Maybe all the "behind the scenes" workings that we know nothing about could be....gasp.....working?
And how could they possibly stop a few people from planting a bomb. Listening to phone calls can't really stop it . Anyone could do it. But they're not. Perhaps the word from OBL is to wait for the right time ? Or perhaps it's, "Not now".
"White House basement", that's funny.

My scenario is strictly a wild guess, but it's a better guess than, The Feds know everything.

I've avoided most of the political-based threads for a while. Don't get me wrong...I love
them...just...staying out of 'em (Pledge on was more theological than political).
As for why there haven't been more attacks, based on what real experts (Not those
who have their roles because of their campaign contributions to the dimwitted little fool
currently taking up air in the White House, the main reason is that the thought process
for "them" is a lot different than ours. For them, waiting 5-10-15 years to launch a huge
attack is preferable to many small ones. Also, they've already won in a lot of ways.
"We've" given in on a lot of our most basic rights based on fear, and fear-mongering.
We've shown ourselves to the world to be everything "they" said we were. We've started
a pointless, illegal war for the profit of a few and the control of other people's resources,
we've shown our ignorance of other people's cultures and our indifference to them.
ALSO, from the standpoint of many of those who support them in whatever way, their
next attack needs to be equal to, or larger, than the last. THAT'S a huge undertaking.
But, they're patient and not stupid. We're not patient and about half of us have proven
that we're neither as smart, nor superior, as we like to think.

It's because the whole world is scared shitless of us and the bush administration orchestrated 911. But you liberals already knew that, you just wanted to hear someone say it...amirite?

Lemmy's mole would take the victory.

Barfight,
Dang. Denny Green's rant can work on SO many levels. Beer, terrorist intrigue, who
knows what else. Nice tie in.
BTW, did you hear he wants to copyright the phrase? Guess if you can't get work coaching
anymore, have to find some other revenue.

You can split the prize. Just go to the basement of the Alamo and Osama Bin Laden will give you Pee-Wee Hermans Bike and an autographed photo of him and Dick Cheney in front of the White House Christmas Tree.Primates wrote:I hate you. Which brings up another question.
If we ever elect a Jewish President, will they still have to put up a Christmas tree in the white house?

I think the terrorists haven't struck again for two reasons.
First, they're still getting plenty of mileage out of 9/11 and the Iraq Debacle. There's no need to throw stones at the hornets' nest right now, because the hornets are waiting for it.
The second reason is, I believe, the most important: We're paying attention now.
The '93 attack on the World Trade Center was thought at the time to be perpetrated by just a small band of whack-jobs, and in truth, it really was. The attack on the USS Cole was another small band of whack-jobs, and this time, it was on a military vessel. Now that was unfortunate, but not the tragedy the NeoCons make it out to be. The men who were killed were all volunteers, and if it's okay for 4000 soldiers to give their lives in Iraq, then giving one's life in the Gulf is no different, but I don't wish to... ramble.
The 9/11 attack, well, that got everybody's attention. I still believe they never planned it that big, they never guessed the towers would fall, but anyway...
So the end result is that while law enforcement isn't allowed to racially profile, thank goodness the public is, and we're watching now. We've stopped a number of attempts. Please notice that military intervention hasn't stopped any attempts, only police and private means have worked. Even the so-called Patriot Act hasn't caught anyone, and the so-called Homeland Security Administration only suceeded in growing the federal government to it's largest and most expensive point ever. The only thing that has worked has been Joe Q. Public dropping a dime on Ali Al-Eoxenfree for asking how to fly a plane, and not asking how to land one.
The fact that we're now finally vigilant is why they moved on to Spain, Bali, England, etc. Not the Iraq War. We're not "fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here." That's just silly... if that were true, wouldn't we just do it in Saudi Arabia, where the 9/11 guys were largely from, or Pakistan, where UBL is?
Oops... rambling.

Better question...
If Obama becomes President, will Kwanzaa candles replace the Christmas tree? or If Hillary is elected... will opposite-sex marriages become illegal?

I think we are doing a good job keeping them at bay. I have a friend who works CIA counter terrorism and he was home visiting. He told me strait up that he couldn't be specific, but he said that there isn't going to be an attack anytime soon. Just what I've heard from a credible source, has nothing to do with politics.
If you make this a political debate, you are fucked up. I don't think any side of the coin wants to put the people in harm.
