MAY 19TH, F@$K THE OIL COMPANIES!!!

Post by Punkinhead »

Hey all, I've been informed that May 19th is our first official do not buy day for gas. Please pass this on to everyone you know as if we can get one or two big ones, they will start to lose their ass and have to lower the prices. And before you say that they can't, my cousin is best friends with a certain congressman from Indiana County. He pays .63 per gallon. That's right 63 fucking cents! So it can be lowered....

I'm all for this idea...if it works. I'm spending about $50 a day to fuel my vehicles and equipment(landscaping business). That's real shitty when I was used to paying around $30ish a day. Those damn omish have the right idea...horse and buggy!

What good will this really do? Because you'll still have to fill up your gas tank eventually. Gas sales will go down May 19th, but other days will compensate for it. May 18th will be a spectacular day for gas sales, because everyone will be filling up their tanks thinking, "man, I'm really going to screw the oil companies tomorrow!!" How silly is that?

If you want to send a message, cut down your overall gas consumption for a long period of time. Only that will have an effect on the market.

Why isn't anyone suggesting something logical like:

Ride A Bicycle
Buy A Hybrid Vehicle And Drive It For The Next Decade
Carpool To Work Every Day
Ditch Your SUV

But go ahead and don't buy gas on the 19th if it makes you feel better. Me? I'll be thankful that there will be a day when I won't have to wait in line for gas at Sheetz behind some chick in an Expedition saying, "I swear, when gas gets up to $20 a gallon, I'm gonna drive less. And I mean it!" :D

I'm all for shafting the oil companies but.......... I don't get how this will do anything? You'll just have to buy the day before or the day after right? Wouldn't everyone have to walk to work for a day to really get 'em?

Jimi, you're my hero. Your post had me laughing out loud. :D

Let's not also forget, the economy isn't made up of independent businesses; boycotting fuel for one day could actually hurt the country's eceonomy as a whole.

Tell ya what...let's do the most sensible thing possible. Everyone quit their jobs. That way we won't need to use gas to go anywhere. Sure...unemployment will go up, but hey... a minor technicality.

A nice thought

As much as we would all like to get our revenge on the oil companies for raping us for years, this email "May 19th do not buy gas" is a hoax. This thing has circulated for quite some time. Sorry!

The people really do have the power but we cannot use it. Imagine standing in a field amongst a group of cows. If the cows could get along for a minute and take a decisive course of action, you would be screwed. But, we all know that cows are stupid and do not have the capacity to work together to accomplish a goal. Hmmmm...

It's a fact that when VP Chaney worked for the oil companies he said gas should be a minimun of $ 2.00 a gallon. Now that he is running the country, Why are you suprised ? If you want to bring down the price of gas.....vote.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if unemployment does go up. With this gas hike, it won't even be worth it for some people to go to work because half of their paycheck will be going into the tank. I operate a business from my home, but it still requires me to drive. (I use to work in State College which is about a 1 hour drive for me. Thank God I'm not working there now) You better believe I'll be requesting receipts for business trips now, so it can be written off come tax time. I'm also starting school this fall, and I'm hoping that gas won't be too big of an expense. (Luckily it's only 25 minutes away) I feel sorry for the people who have to compute 45+ minutes, no matter what type of vehicle they have.

Yeah.. Mine's a 55 minute drive to work. That would be a good idea to save the gas receipts. The boss refuses to foot that. Le-sigh. So maybe Uncle Sam can take care of it for me?

At least summer is around the corner. I won't be having to make that trip every day with the kids being off.
