Gamers, need some help
Gamers, need some help
The boy wants a gaming system, he's got PS2 at his Mom's. I don't know crap about these. What's the best bang for the buck. Keep in mind I'm not real keen on spending big bucks on video games..... i'd rather see him play his bass a little more, or read, or it sure wouldn't hurt him to study more ( or at all )
All help is appreciated.Thanks

Don't bitch to me about the economy while you're still buying Chinese products.

Wii's are a lot of fun....a lot of the games coming out for it are really good.
I always feel bad seeing mine sitting there not being used. Some little kid could be playing the hell out of one and can't get one, and I play mine once a month if that.
I chalk that up to having a 15 month old and a 1 month old.

By the time they're going to be old enough to appreciate gaming...the Wii will be old news!!
I remember being a young lad...this was 1990...we FINALLY got the NES for Christmas. My older sister and I would play non stop. My dad worked 3rd shift (he still does to this day) so when he couldn't sleep at 2am on weekends...he was up playing Super Mario Bros. 1. To this day, I still haven't forgiven him for beating that game before me

By the next Christmas (1991) we got the SNES and already had Genesis. Dad stopped playing video games for some reason...and I became that kid in the neighborhood that had all the systems and ruled supreme and beat everyone at Street Fighter and MK and all those cool games!

Good times.

The Wii sucks. There are a few good games for it. It has control issues, and a ton of shitty games. The graphics are terrible and I had one, but got rid of it because it sucked. It's not a proven system yet, the only thing that it has proved is that a gimmick works to sell consoles, and they are cheap.

I'll agree that if you sit and play video games constantly the Wii may not your cup of tea. I enjoy it. My wife and I play it once and a while when the kids go to bed. When the family is over it always seems to get used. Plus I like downloading old NES and super NES games from back in the day. It's nice to have them all available on one console.RobTheDrummer wrote:The Wii sucks. There are a few good games for it. It has control issues, and a ton of shitty games. You're correct on the gimmick sells consoles idea. Though, they won't be so cheap when(if) they make these DVD compatiable. Regardless, they are fun for me...maybe it's a drunk thing

I do agree with you that the 360 is the best right now.

Those are fun aren't they? I have all of those emulators on my modded original x-box. Hours of nostalgic fun.Mikey Wax wrote:I'll agree that if you sit and play video games constantly the Wii may not your cup of tea. I enjoy it. Ok the best system out is a ps3. But I don't think you are wanting to pay like 300$. It has the best graphics and the best processing speed. If you get one make sure it is backwards compatiable. The reason I also say this is because they are not a pain in the ass like other systems you do not have to worry about getting anything for it to watch movies or even to play old games if you get an backwards compatible one. The 360 and the wii have to have extra things that you buy seprately to watch movies. It is quite a pain in the ass. The best games come out for the ps3 also I don't really like the 360 games and the wii becomes a pain in the ass. The reason of gaming is so you do not have to move. The 360 gets the virus with the red lights. But the ps3 does not get anything like that. If you want to get games for it the best bet would be to get them on ebay they will be way cheaper.

a 360 will play dvds right out of the box.
i like alot of the 360 games, so i'd say go for a 360. make sure it has a hard drive and get him xbox live. it's only like 50 bucks for a year long subscription.

I'm gonna have to say PS3. I sell all 4 systems (PS3, 360, Wii, and PS2), and I say the PS3 gives you the most bang for the buck. Why?
1. Better processor speed and better graphics. No other system has the horsepower that a PS3 has, period.
2. Bluetooth. The PS3 is a Bluetooth system You can use your cellphone's bluetooth earpirce to talk to gamers online. Much easier than the clunky 360 headset.
3. WiFi. PS3 is WiFi ready, unlike the 360, which requires the $100 wireless adapter, sold seperately.
4. BluRay. PS3 is a BluRay player, and upconverts standard DVD to 1080p hi def.
5. Memory. The PS3 standard is 80GB. You can upgrade that with any 2.5 inch internal hard drive, so space is up to you.
6. Internet browsing. PS3 comes with a built in browser, and antivirus.
7. Online gaming. No, you can't play Halo3. But online gaming is totally FREE on PS3. No cards for membership, ever.
So there you go. PS3 FTW. BTW, I'm posting this from my 160GB PS3. *wink*
