Idea

Post by tonefight »

Ya Know how the bike clubs have the swap meets ( Bike parts not the women ) I think it would be a cool idea for someone to put together, If everyone is like me they have all kinds of stuff they've bought over the years that they don't use and is just sitting there while someone else could use it. I'm not the organizing type so I won't be doing it but its just an idea. You could throw in some entertainment maybe an acoustic jam stage or something?

That sounds like it would be awsome. I love buying and selling stuff. I think it would be much easier to get rid of equipment if people could try it out for themselves first-hand. I would be glad to help to organize somehting like this.

This does sound like a cool idea, but be careful, you may need to obtain some sort of license from the town or boro where you hold the event. You know, the man has to get his cut, LOL!

I don't think it would be much different than setting up other types of trade, swap meets or flea markets. I know the model railroad and NASCAR miniatures flea markets usually rent out a fire hall for a day, like Pinecroft or East Freedom. I'm not sure how much the rate would run for such a hall, but that's one possible option.

I would surely drive a coulpe of hours to pilfer through someone's junk. Let me know when and where. There was a really cool guitar show/ swap meet in Indiana a few years back. They did it for a couple of years and then gave it up. Too bad. Capital idea Tonefight.

This is an awesome idea. There are guitar swaps, but they're organized by some fly-by-night outfit who charges huge money for a table. Can't wait to see how this pans out.----->JMS

Tony, that's an awsome idea!! Maybe we could tie it into the next Rockpage benefit jam since we're looking for ideas and ways to get everyone to come out? Speaking of which, do you guys think we could get a few sponsors for the event to advertise the hell out of it?

Count me in. I end up having a clearance sale on ebay every September and January and my clearance box is already filling up.

The Emporium tried that a few years back, but of course, IT GOT RAINED OUT.

Reverse logic: Plan an activity for a rainstorm, and if it doesn't rain, do what you really wanted to do.

That would be cool tied in with the Jam but do you think everyone will be preoccupied with playing? Also I would suggest keeping buisness owners ( music stores ) out of it

Lonewolf, you advertised some lights awhile back, I forget what they were but I could use some (8) par 56 cans
