Politics shmolitics, shut up and play

Post by cruseaudio »

I am writing this simply because it was easier to find moronic spewdom from people who don't have a fucking clue about politics, than it was to find a bar where I could see a good band tonite!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I swear to God that in the last ten years this area has gone down hill so far in musical enertainment as well as talent that it isn't even worth the time to write this.

You don't have but maybe half a fuckin clue about politics, neither do I.

We will never be told the real truth about anything and wouldn't recognize it if we did.

Here is a clue about YOUR real problems though. This sight is for music enthusiests and musicians. But there are few to no fans here, nobody cares!!!

If you want to make things better do YOUR job -PLAY, PRACTICE, PROMOTE.

It seems like most guys on here have a clue but to watch another thread fill up 4 pages about something that has NOTHING to do with music or our local music scene makes me want to puke.

Why do you expect ONE man to fix a world's problems in 4 years when hundreds of us can't even figure out how to make a living playing music

I'll be at Loui's lounge because someone actually put an add on here for it that didn't take 3 hours to find. I don't even know who the band is but they are the best musicians here simply because they are there!!!!!!!!!!1

Well, the title of this particular section of this website is General Discussion. Not General Music Discussion. Has it ever occured to you that maybe some people are just here because they want to post on the forum and they don't give a shit about music?

Lighten up Ace-hole. Have fun at Louie's...I don't typically go to bars that don't even think enough of bands to actually have a fucking stage though. And say high to all the A&R reps from the major labels for me because I know Williamsburg is just crawling with them!!

Good luck with that musical career!! Have fun getting discovered here!

Yea, you know I would have typically thought that it was a little gouche to have a political discussion on a music web site. But, the recent political climate has pretty much permiated the local and national mentality. It is so hard to get recent images out of our collective consciousness. My brother in law, a 50 year old father of 2 and a real nice dude is in Bagdhad right now and it's so hard for me to try to get my mind around what kind of changes he must be going through. It's true that we aren't being told the truth about many things and we may not have the real say in who becomes president. But we do have the power to decide who gets elected to the US congress and senate. These are the people that are within our reach, so to speak. They have offices locally, they make appearences locally, and they have to answer to us come election time. Most of us have probably been poisoning ourselves on the 24 hour news networks. That sure isn't healthy. These issues are not going away and I think that all the musicians that come here know that they have at least one thing in common with other people that post here; a love of music and an openmindedness when it comes to other people's opinions. We all need to vent right now. Think about some of the song titles and lyrics that you have been coming up with lately. Don't at least some of them have military lingo and an increasing theme of violence in them? This whole situation that the USA is in, here and around the world is in our blood and sometimes it just feels good to let it out around other people with whom you can relate to on another level.
You can put kittens in the oven, but that don't make 'em biscuits.

I might be all of those things but it doesn't change the fact that out of town bands can come in and clean up!!!

Go to any average corner bar next weekend and see that they are PACKED.

People around here seem to think local bands suck (or most of them anyway) without even giving them a shot. And if they want to go somewhere to get an idea of who is playin where- they come here to see us arguing with Aja or Metalrules or sadly enough George Bush.
You can be mad at me all you want but the truth is the truth.

But you will fill up more pages here bitching about what I said then you will trying to find a solution. And how sad is that.

I do promise you this am not gonna bother with this thread anymore. You can insult me all you want because it just further drives home my point!

General discussion means you can speak about anything on here. And you too have "abused the right" if we are following your rules. You are not promoting any bands. You are harassing the people that post on here for freedom of speech. You are stating you are going to a bar {"I don't even know who the band is but they are the best musicians here simply because they are there!!!!!!!!!!1"} for nothing more than making an idiotic point.

Listen Scooter, this is rock page. Musicians think about more things than just, "When is it time to change my strings?" or, "Gee, my hair is too long, time to get it cut so that I can slam better and the chicks will dig it more".

You say that we only are on here talking about George W, Aja, and Metalrules {"And if they want to go somewhere to get an idea of who is playin where- they come here to see us arguing with Aja or Metalrules or sadly enough George Bush."} but I beg to differ. {"People around here seem to think local bands suck (or most of them anyway) without even giving them a shot. "} If you paid even the slightest bit of attention between jacking, you'd notice that the last thread that Metal Rules crashed was about lyrics. He was put in his place and the thread continued like he wasn't even there anymore even before he was tossed off Rockpage. For the second time I might add.

I don't really seem to recall anyone putting any bands down. I seem to recall most saying, "Yes, that is a good original song." or "Yes, cool lyric, write more!" Some how I'm missing the part where we're not supporting each other. Perhaps there was a thread stating something about "broke bassists and over hyped singers" that I missed? "Oh wait...you didn't do well in that bar. First time there? No, really. The lack of crowd due to another event wasn't the problem,...you're band truly does suck. The bar owner was only offering you to book again because he felt bad for you. Give up the dream, man, become a lawer instead. It fits you better."

Musicians do not live, eat, breathe, sleep, screw, and pss music out constantly. It is a big part of our lives, but not always the central part. We do do other things with our time. You may be surprised to hear this, but we cut grass. We help our kids with their home work. We fix dinner. We go to work. We watch c-span and fox news. We hold other opinions and that is exactly what a forum is for. If it wasn't, then Ron forgot to put that little stipulation on the "accept these terms" page about only talking music.

Get a hobbie and settle down. Show you have an opinion on something aside from slapping people for wanting to talk. And if you don't like what you're reading? Go find Metal Rules' forum. I'm sure he'd be more than happy to talk constant music with you. He'll even make sure you know what you're writing wrong.

More than my .02.

Heh...I love this forum. ;) No matter how bad my day is, I can come on here and watch how easily people can push each other's buttons to the point of calling each other names and I get a nice chuckle out of it. Opinions are great because we are all entitled to them. Whether you agree with someone else's or not is another story, but should respect it because it's an angle/perspective that you never would have thought of. Say if you don't like a thread, don't post on it. It's your free will. 8)

What prevented you from finding a band dude? I found one and I am just a fuckiing moron who discusses politics? And by the way The Grimm was great last night at Petey C's and also The Flaming Johnsons were a really pleasant surprise. Oh and what the heck is this thread about? Can you hear me playing in the background, sorry I will shut up now.

Oh and by the way, heck of a good job promoting yourself. Just a guess but you might have achieved the opposite.

Wow, you do live on earth right? If you did you'd realize that music and polotics are sick bedfellows. Music has always been a way to inform as well as entertain, do the 70's come to mind? Protests? Music influencing people instead of the crooked ass poloticians? I have always listened to negatively politically influenced music that spits a message of we're being f*cked, and we are. Wake up. If another 911 happens before the next presidential election, say goodbye to your rights, say hello to marshall law. Freedom and everything our brethren think they are fighting for will be nomore. Bush would be supreme f*cking ruler, good old patriot act. Do you wonder why the public is kept up to date about Americans being mistreated and murdered? So we keep a certain idiot puppet in office to "protect our rights" by taking them away. i don't know about you, but the last time i hear of that kinda sh*t was Nazi Germany, and I as a musician, will not sit idely by while someone who's supposed to be protecting and guiding us is only worried about how deep their pockets are. I will let people know through my music, because its an influential source of knowledge. So please, chill, my brother in law is over there, my little brother just came back, and allot of people i don't know, but care about anyway are risking their lives so we can sit here and bitch at eachother. Music is knowledge to a beat, it's always been that way.

oh, and by the way. Some of us do have a clue about politics. There are many of us that are very involved in the political arena. And, I am one of those people. I am not an authority on politics on the national level, but I do pay attention and am very involved both locally and with the State of PA.

I'm not trying to bash you- I am just stating the facts (about me).

And, I too wonder sometimes about some of the posts on this forum. I get discouraged sometimes with the lack of musical topics. But, you have to admit, it can be fun!!! And, there is something here for everyone!!
