Pearl Jam Storytellers
I watched this last evening and loved it, I am posting lyrics from a tune Eddie played just him and an acoustic guitar, it was originally a Phil Ochs tune from the late 60's titled " here's to the state of Mississippi, 2 years ago Eddie and Tim Robbins Revised it and played it on the " vote for change " tour, he is now putting it back into their set in "hopes that he might open the eyes of the youth to what is really going on' end quote, see below makes ya think.
Here's to the judges of John Roberts,
Who wear the robe of honor in a phony legal form,
And justices are stranger when the partisans report,
When the court elected a president it was the beginning of this war,
Here's to the land you tore out the heart of,
John Roberts find yourself another country to be part of
Here's to the government of Dick Cheney,
With criminals posing as advisors to the crown,
And they hope that no one sees the sites or that no one hears the sounds,
Cause the speeches of our president are the remains of a clown
Here's to the land you tore out the heart of,
Dick Cheney find yourself another country to be part of
Here's to the churches of Jerry Falwell,
Oh the cross once made of silver now is turned to rust,
And the sunday morning services preach in fear of men in love,
And God only knows in heaven they must trust
Here's to the land you tore out the heart of,
Jerry Falwell find yourself another country to be part of
Here's to the laws of Alberto Gonzalez,
Congress will pass an act in the panic of the day,
And the Constitution's drowning in an ocean of decay,
And freedom of speech is dangerous i've even heard them say,
Here's to the land you tore out the heart of,
Gonzalez find yourself another country to be part of
Here's to the businessmen of George W,
Who'll want to change the focus from Halliburton to Enron
And their profits like blood money spilled out on the white house lawn,
To keep their hold on power they're using terror as a con,
While the bombs they fall on children dont know which side...dont care which side that they're on
Here's to the land you tore out the heart of,
George W find yourself another country to be part of

I'm glad I didn't have to fight in a war, I'm glad I didn't get killed or kill somebody, I hope my kids enjoy the same lack of manhood

I would have considered watching it, but not now. Nothing like hearing Eddie say "Listen to me, I know what's best for you". Here's a thought, Eddie, you too can find another country to be part of. If you don't like it here, leave.
Pour me another one, cause I'll never find the silver lining in this cloud.

I didnt see that anywhere in those lyrics. All i seen was someones opinion on some stuff. Besides, you dont have to like everything here, you just have to like it better than the other places. If you were to leave every place you found something wrong with, youd... well... eventually run out of places to go.

Laugh if you want to, really is kinda funny, 'cause the world is a car and you're the crash test dummy.

I do...
I listen to Pearl Jam indeed as well as Bach, Beethoven, Mozart and many metal bands Death and other wise grunge, and classic rock, It's called diversity and open minded, LOOK INTO IT !! As far as Eddie and what he has to say he is not on charge of what you believe he is simply suggesting that all is not what it seems, Why do you all wish to be sheep While the right wing idiology is your shepherd?

Some days you're the windshield, some days you're the bug.
You are right, it isn't anywhere in the lyrics. Just listen to him talk once, you'll get your fill of him really fast.Colton wrote:Merge wrote:Nothing like hearing Eddie say "Listen to me, I know what's best for you".

While I agree with the message in the song, I personally can't stand it when Mr. Vedder starts his posturing pretentiousness. "Oh whoa is me. I don't want to be a rockstar. Boo-hoo." Shut the fuck up, Eddie. Then I remember when he whined at some awards gig because Third Eye Blind did a cover of a Who song, and he said that they didn't have even right to play it. Whatever.
Ten was a pretty cool record, but after that, Pearl Jam kind of lost me. I was never a big fan. Eddie can't hold a tune in a bucket, IMHO.

I like 2 or 3 songs by Pearl Jism. Eddie Vedder certianly whines way too much. the 2 or 3 songs i like are really good, but the rest of it is a puddle of jism....in the shape of eddie vedder.

Damn, I'm glad I never stepped into any of that crap.
I had Alice in Chains back then, so I'm not too familiar with any of that stuff.

You are correct sir.Even then,IMO,they were a lameass band.Terrible songwriters ,and with the exception of their rhythm section, just awful players.Stone Gossard can tune his guitar any Fin way he wants but it still comes out BORING.Mike McCreedy, god don't get me started on that hack.......i'm sorry i've gone too far LOL.No fear though for you cats that still have those records.Any junk store will give you 2bucks apeice for them HA HA......Rock on.

Re: Truce
That right there is the coolest thing I've ever seen on this board. That's how you resolve differences. As political as I've become, as strong and my stubborn-ness(sp?) is, I'd drop my politics in a second to play some music.Imgrimm01 wrote:Truce INDEED... but I do like Pearl Jam they helped change the face of music in the 90's , Again Whitedevilone ( who ever ya are ) I propose Grimm and NAILDRIVER do a show together... what better way to seal a TRUCE... you all name the time and place and were there OR get with me or Kent and we will get something set up...
