MeYatch and I were talking about these instruments the other day.

Man, I can't just get over how cool they are. I normally don't like the whole, "Let's make a pseudo-vintage instrument that looks like a cheesy Penco copy so it will appeal to pretentious indie rockers" thing that some companies do, but damn if these instruments aren't works of art.

I wish that they made more five-string basses. They have a really cool Firebird guitar copy. Has anyone tried any of these out?

Love those old freaky body styles! Rainbow Music does or did carry Italia, I think. They weren't great players, but that could just be a stiff factory setup.

A similar company is Eastwood Guitars. They're probably best known for dead-on replicas of Jack White's red Airline.

Ya. Spend a good bit of time watching for Italias and Eastwoods on EBay. Cool instruments.

The Eastwoods that look like old Mosrites are the best. VENTURES BABY!

I'd rather have my dick put in a pair of vice grips than deal with Rainbow Music. Regardless, I am intrigued by these instruments. Some of the Eastwoods are really cool, but some I just can't get into. The Sidejack DXL is an amazing looking instrument though. I dig the Jetline Map bass too.

Paul, I knew I had heard of this brand before. This is the model I had previously seen. I knew I was associating Italia with the antithesis of understated design.

Definatly works of art, but they dont belong on a stage with me, lol. I personally dont like guitars to be extremely fancy like that.
