Paul...great topic, and I agree with you on "Hear in the Now Frontier." I saw Queensryche on that tour (their LAST with the original lineup including Degarmo), and they were on FIRE! Though blasted by some fans as being too "grunge," it gave the band a much needed shot in the arm after the lackluster "Promised Land," which died halfway through, and was far superior to either "Q2K" or "Tribe." Still, the 'Ryche crew must not think much of it either, as they have played NO songs from that album on any subsequent tour.
Albums much maligned but worth a listen:
1. Black Sabbath: Sabotage. Their most progressive, psychadelic, and experimental work, complete with hidden tracks and some genuinely scary sounds.
2. Bruce Dickinson: Skunkworks. Bruce totally shed the Maiden sound for this album and it rocked, even if it was a bit "alt" for them.
3. King Crimson: Beat. One of their more commercial 80's albums, this hidden jewel still features some amazing musicianship!
4. Primus: Brown Album. Most of the tunes on Brown were more serious, less cartoony, and somewhat "straight" for the Seas of Cheese crowd, but it was a damned cool and very listenable record.
5. Jon Wayne: Texas Funeral. If you need to ask on this one, then you won't understand;) Bob Lee does, though!

I just discovered Drama. It is truly an oddball (yet awesome) album. How about that insane bass work!

cheers!DrumAndDestroy wrote:Mine is Liberal Animation by NoFX (1988...Re-released in 1991).
It is some of the craziest guitar stuff I have ever heard by any band of any genre. Great dueling leads and what not.
All the punks I know who love NoFX hate this record. You metal guys just might like it![]()
Other albums I like that other fans despise...any post dookie green day, and post dude ranch blink 182, bad religion 'no substance', bad religion 'the new america'...well for punk rock, the list could go on and on i think.
