cable tv, telephone, wireless, hs internet

Post by mjb »

do you have it all rolled into one ? what do you pay monthly, and what company are you with?

its all pretty confusing, in my quest to knock down my cost to exist on this planet on a monthly basis i was wondering if anybody has any of these programs that are all with one company for example: comcast, verizon ,atlantic bb or whatever else is out there.

i roughly pay this:

home phone...23.00 w/ no extras....call waiting, i.d. etc.. verizon

wireless phone x 2 = 90.00...verizon

cable tv w/ high speed internet ... 126.00..... atlantic bb

these luxurys are worse than being on the H. once you have them its kinda tough to quit them i.e cell phones, hs internet , high def, dvr

just wondering if any body has these all with one company and if the savings are there.

thanks

I have Verizon One Bill, everything is bundled.

I have DSL, 128/768 - the lower end plan.

Two Cell phones, one is a Treo with data. My wife and I share 700 minutes.

Home phone service with Call Waiting, Call Waiting ID, Caller ID, Call Forward on Busy and we pay $.05 a minute for long distance, which we don't use because of the cell phones.

I pay about $125/mo.

The only other thing I had been considering was the Comcast Triple play, which is VOIP phone service, HS Cable Internet Access and of course cable TV, but I was visiting a friend this weekend and the cable looked HORRIBLE and many of her channels didn't work, even after 3 CALLS for support. That plan is currently $99/mo for all 3 services. Then I would still have my cellular bill at around $70 / mo.

Right now, if you throw in my DirecTV and the way I have phone and internet service I am paying like $250 / mo. OUCH.

If you have cell phones, there's no need for long distance service, etc... go for the Verizon DSL 2 year plan online - which is only 14.99/month right now -- and ask for a basic land line... which is only like 13.00 per month. you can receive calls, but making calls from your home phone costs you... hence the cell phone necessity.

And ditch the cable for directv or dish network... that's around $55 a month. I do all of this and save a lot, i think (especially with a company-paid cell phone. that helps a lot, too).

We have Atlantic BB Net and Cable, No Home Phone and 2 cells. I won't get a home phone.

Is there any Internet service with Dish type systems... Atlantic BB is raking me!

Well, Hughes/DirecTV have a satellite internet service called DirecWay, but it's expensive and not very fast.

DirecTV also is a partner of Verizon, and as long as Verizon DSL is available in your area you can package both services at a discount. Go to verizon.com and click residential and then click on bundles on the menu for more info.

I am cheap....I pay 39.00/mo for cell (verizon), I think I have 450 minutes/mo and I get a small discount for working for PSU. I pay 20.00/mo for a land-line phone, no long distance or any extras. Thinking of dropping the phone, but verizon does charge you (I think 50.00/year) for a dry loop for your DSL internet if you have no phone. I have verizon DSL; I think I pay 21.99/mo for that. Thats it, I don't have cable for my TV....can't afford it nor do I want it, I have better things to do with my time such as read a book, play tennis, or eat beans.

Not true....how can you forget the obvious BDR.....MUSIC! Music, conversation, sex, or all of the above goes better with beans than South Park or any other drivel on TV. IMHO. I can't believe how much money you guys pay for TV.

I do agree with your take there on "bean side dishes" but South Park does indeed rule while consuming beans.

South Park, Smallville and Steelers football ... those are the primary reasons I have TV (Directv).
