Count me in. That sounds great, Bobby.

Valley View would be great for me, it's within walking distance from my house!

I know they usually have a summer concert series at Valley View on Sunday evenings; whatever date is selected would have to be a Sunday that their concert series isn't going on. I think the Blair County Park & Rec Commission is in charge of that; and would know available dates, and might be the folks to talk to about booking the amphitheater. (FatVin played there a few summers ago, perhaps he knows who to speak with?)

Without alcohol, the event could be open to being an all-ages jam where the underage musicians could take part.

Of course, since the park is behind Valley View Home, you might have an audience of elderly folks getting their rocks off!

That was a deal that kinda fell into our laps, the guy from the city called me, actually. I'll look into it and see what I can find out but it's a great stage and Yeah let's Jam!

I can provide a bass rig if needed. And, yes, it is a decent one this time that wont cut out. 500 watt head, 410 and 115 cabs.

Dude, I told you, that wasn't your bass rig that cut out... the breaker tripped on the wall receptacle, it was off for a few minutes until we figured that out, then they turned it back on. I hope you didn't sell it or something because of that! It's a nice rig! ---->JMS

Now I remember. I went up to change the fuse in the amp head, and then realized it was a house fuse. All that stuck in my head was me worrying about all these musicians relying on my bass amp and worrying about it ruining the whole benefit. Anyway, I do have a slightly better amp if needed and I do still have my old one as a backup (It's for sale too).

I'd like to jam for it...I can set up and tear down in 3 minutes. Meanwhile, 1 band can tear down then another set up without any break in the show.

Me,too. However it looks like we have so many acts it might take more than one date... maybe one for classic rock and blues and one for the metalmen?----->JMS

I hope you guys do this before we head south because I really don't want to miss it. I also hope it's an all day thing because we're booked up pretty good. If we couldn't stay for the entire thing, at least we could hang until it'd be time to leave for one of our shows. *CROSSES HIS FINGERS*

Thanks for the replys all! I got the number to call and will have a date by Monday i hope. Heres some things im thinking...

All ages welcome
$5.00 cover (musicians dont pay)
Benefit John Mcknight ( Hes still in bad shape)
Do bands want to use there own equip or should we have house gear again?
Time might be an issue, start at 11:00am, probably have to quit by 9:00pm. earlier start time maybe?
If we use our own gear....30 minute sets for bands,
House gear.....45 min set
Acoustic acts in between bands
jams in between to be determined by single players.
Bring a table to sell your swag!
Make sure if you jump in with a band, you ok'd it with them first.
We will need sound and pa....
(Edit) Also a big field there where we could set up some musician games like JP mentioned before.
Hurricanes will be there for this one but have to play that night. Need at least 5 organizers to help. Paul is 1.

jump in with what you think...
Thanks

It's in my personal opinion that house gear would probaly be the best idea. (if it weren't for cost and responsability, I would suggest renting backline equipment) 1st, that's less setup time, which = more time playing. 2nd, everybody doesn't have to constantly watch that their gear isn't being stolen while they are not playing. I'm unfamiliar with the size of this stage, but I thought the dual drum-kits at the Peter Cs benefit worked great. It would be cool to have two guitar rigs on stage. One for more vintage/bluesy stuff, (like a Fender Twin-Reverb) and one for a heavier tone. (a Marshall or a Boogie) Keyboards could be ran direct-out. And then of course a bass rig. People could be paid a desposit, like last time, for use of their gear.

An earlier start time would be cool, but I don't know if people would come out that early for a show. If this is going to be on a Sunday, remember that many people are going to be at church in the morning.

Sounds cool to me.
Hurricane wrote: jams in between to be determined by single players.
Actually, I think it would be cool to have designated "Jam Time" during the day. The only thing I was really disappointed about when it came to the last Rockpage Benefit is there really wasn't much jamming.

I'll start by taking care of performance scheduling and keeping the bands happy. If you wish to participate, e-mail me at www.bass_74@hotmail.com

If you prefer a certain time-slot, please let me know.

We just have to make sure that nothing else is going on in 'Toona town that day. Up here in the magical land of Clearfield County, once the 4th of July hits, every little borough has a carnival for just about every weekend. Having something else going on the day of the benefit may yield less people.

Grimm would love to participate! We had a blast the last time so count us in!

A few suggestions:

1. Backline gear makes sense. I'd be willing to contirbute a cab or something.
2. Mixed bag jams: It would be cool to throw all the player's names in a hat and create "random" bands.

Let's get everybody up for some improv this time! All the folks who are there deserve a shot at the stage! And one other thing....I suggest we avoid coming up with a "list" of covers to jam on....let's make this thing spontaneous!

Hey Bobby,

Wake up Screaming would also like to participate! Let us know if you need help with anything. I couldn't make it to the last jam, so if there's anything I can do for this one (like donate a nice tama star-classic to jam on) let me know!

Maybe I missed this post, but is there an actual date for this yet? On another note, I know that as a rule guys usually HATE board games but I do have a few really interesting board games that are all about music (one of them is difficult enough for musicians to be challenged with, the other one is just fun & interesting, they are trivia-based), so if you would like these available to be played under a pavilion or something (good alternative if there is intermittant rain that day), let me know. Post on here, I won't get the e-mail...need to change my account.

Thanks John! Great to see you last night also!

I just got off the phone with park and rec and after some runaround i have to call this Monday to set the date. July 18th is what im thinking, sunday. If this date is ok with everyone ill try to get it in stone.

Jim, sounds great about the kit, since im playing that night i wont be able to use mine. Maybe Rob will want to use his too again. 2 kits are nice and the stage is huge.

Kent, i agree man with all you said! Hope you guys will be there again!

Remember to email or PM bassist_25 for a slot!

I like the idea of a swapmeet too! Musicians bring your stuff you want to get rid of!

Board games? LOL Zappaswife, i think naked twister would be more appealing or spin the drumstick....
