Leno, Letterman OR Conan?
Dispute. I'd have to go with Conan.

Leno,
I'm going with the Andy Richter/Conan days, that was some of the best late night TV ever. I have to admit, that I haven't really watched it much since Andy left the show. But if I were to put one of them on it would be Conan everytime.
Conan used to have some great musical guests also. To me it was a more rounded show, I guess being in a later time bracket allowed them to get away with more, so that is a factor I suppose.

i 've always gone back and forth, i don't like jay cuz he seems to always want to find some way to make an ass out of his guests by trying to embarras them somehow. my wife hates conan but i think he is a comedic genius, he's just silly. ferguson..... not funny at all, if i'm up that late i'm waiting for the tylenol p.m. to kick in
Ferguson. He's known for not using cue cards, and he writes a majority of his own monologue, so it's sort of more off-the-cuff. His interviews are vastly more funny to me. He doesn't come from a stand-up background... he was in some British punk bands back in the day, and even wrote the very Beatlesque theme tune.
Odd, I never thought he was all that funny on Drew Carey's show.

I have to go with Conan. Letterman's the master, but Conan just has a certain chemistry with most of his guests. Man, the Andy Richter days were awesome. I remember he had his own sitcome shortly after leaving Conan and it flopped. I wonder what he's up to now.
"He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.

I am a diehard Letterman fan...but I must admit...his earlier days were much better (remember Chris Elliott - and all of his wacko charactors - beyond funny!!). Conan is fabulous...and again, his earlier days with Andy were better too. Leno for me is just painful to watch.

When I had NBC, I was never able to watch Leno for very long; Conan should have replaced him years ago.
Letterman's Great Moments In Presidential Speeches segment ALONE make him LOL worth watching. HarleyRo, Chris Elliot is on every now and again.
Recently, he was Dog the Bounty Hunter.
Craig Ferguson is a TOTAL riot! I say if it's no' Scottish, it's CRAAAAP!
REMIND you of anyone???

It's already official...he will be replaced by Conan. I think in 2009 or 2010?undercoverjoe wrote:Maybe this should be a new topic, but when Leno retires in a year of 2 like he has hinted, who will replace him on the Tonight Show?
I think this will be bad for Conan. The 2nd timeslot for late-night made for edgier comedy. I wonder if Conan will have a tamer show at the 11:35 slot...
The way I understand it is, the network isn't renewing Leno's contract and he is done in 2009.DrumAndDestroy wrote:It's already official...he will be replaced by Conan. I couldn't ever really stand him. To borrow from Dice, "His head's bigger than his pillow" and "he's the only guy I know that when he looks at his feet, his chins hits him in the balls".

Even though I like Craig Ferguson the best, there are segments of the other shows I like.
Leno - Headlines & Jaywalking
Letterman - Top 10
Conan - If They Mated & The Max Weinberg Seven (best band on late night shows)
I noticed nobody watches Jimmy Kimmel. I have only seen it a couple times and it did not appeal to me.
