Renting practice space?
I was just curious about this and wasn't sure if there was even anything like this in the area, but do you think it would be a decent idea to have a place where you can rent a practice space hourly for your band to practice? It would be sound proofed and such so you could really practice anytime of the day or night. It was just an idea I had and wasn't even sure if there would be enough demand for it. I know they have places like this in Pittsburgh, but I wasn't sure if finding a place to practice was an issue around this area.

Some friends of mine used to rent out a storage unit for practice. Some places aren't cool with it though. They are fairly affordable and you pay by the month. Probably not a good idea at this time of year tho, just tossing it out there... that and it would be a bad idea to leave your equipment there.

Renting
I always thought an underground bunker would be a way cool practice space/grow room. lol!!
$175 is way too much, unless the band makes more than enough to compensate. Renting a garage or even applying for a loan to build something would be a better alternative I would think.

I seem to remember a music store that was located in Juniata a few years back that had a 'jam room' where bands could practice.
Maybe you could find a couple other bands and go together renting someplace and split the days up, that would be cool cuz then everyone has specific days and the overhead would be significantly lower per band.
On the other side, it could turn into a giant clusterpuck with schedules and money being involved... again just tossing it out there.

We pay $250 a month for our space and that's perfectly fine for me since we have a secure, warm building with closed circuit cameras and we're able to be there as much or as little as we want. It's really about priorities. How much are you willing to kick in on your music? Do you need that new amp or do you need a place to jam?

Yeah, that was Mystic Music. I miss that place.Heartless_Mockery_Records wrote:I seem to remember a music store that was located in Juniata a few years back that had a 'jam room' where bands could practice.
As OK said, it's about priorities. Personally, I wouldn't pay money to practice, but if you're in an urbanized area, then that changes things a little bit, I suppose. Then again, we went over two years without a rehearsal once, so go figure. LOL
