I have been giving serious thought to getting all of mine cut off. The only time I really ever get to let my hair down is when I play out, and anymore I don't even know what playing out is! I might not go back to real short, short hair like I had when I worked at the prison, but maybe shoulder length. I don't know thought because if I cut it that short, it might not be heavy enough to be weighed down to keep it being a fro.

I fall into the category of those "follickly cursed" by genetics. I used to rock the mane back in the day, as well, but about my mid- to late-20s, the old forehead started getting bigger, so one night about five years ago, I consumed a substantial amount of beans and drank a buttload of alcohol, then reached for the clippers — Gone. Poof.

It took some courage (and more beans and booze) to leave the house the next day — talk about culture shock.

Thing about this haircut is you can't turn back once you do it and you have no idea what it will look like until you do it, so it's a test of your self esteem right off. Luckily, I have a nicely shaped skull and everything worked out. Shaving is a pain in the rear end sometimes but I can swim really fast now.

My wife has never seen me with hair. She says she likes me with the noggin shaved ... lucky me.

I had long hair for about 2 years and the only time i enjoyed having it was when we played shows and i could headbang, other than that tho it was a pain in the ass, took longer to maintain and take care of, it was hot, i would sometimes eat it accidently, hell i couldn't even eat a meatball sub in a car driving down the road with the windows down without eating my hair. I cut my hair and even tho i thought i would regret it, I haven't looked back. And the whole ladies thing isnt true, everyone says i look alot better with short hair.

I threw up all the next morning, I just felt sick to my tummy. I do not regret it one bit. She is by far the prettiest girlfriend ever. And gosh, she is so smart too. I do miss my long hair. She made me get it cut off. At first I didnt want to tell you guys that, but this seems like a cool forum to involved in.

Well, i suppose that marriage would be a good thing, but i won't know for a long long time. We broke up first thing this morning, apparently she has been messing around with my brother but that's ok because i am messing around with hers now. I told her that paybacks are a bitch! This thread went to places it probably shouldn't've... Oh well. I digress

I've had short hair and long hair. It hasn't been short for the past several years, but oh well. Having long hair can be messy. I know at least twice a day, I end up with hair in my mouth. That's bare minimal, as it often happens between 5x and 10x. My hair's long because I haven't made the decision to get it cut. I know one day, I'll probably get it cut, but that day hasn't come yet. It'll be so much easier. One of the things I know I'll enjoy though, is the time I get back from not having to wash AND dry it. Those'll both take seconds combined vs. the minutes it takes for each. I think what I'll do sooner or later is just grow the balls, get it cut, figure out how I feel, and if I don't care for the short-haired look, I'll just regrow it again, hair-permitting

About the getting hair in the sunroof thing? Yeah, I know how that feels... Only it's been more the door window, which's worse. You go to open the door, and next thing you know, you're almost thrown out by your own hair!

I'm sure every one of us with hair more than 6" goes through these thoughts at some point. I can't tell you what to do, but it has its advantages either way. And as far as women? There're gonna be some that like you short-haired, some that like you with a mane. The thing that matters in the end is, do you like it yourself?

I'm growing mine long again. It really sux going through the "wings" stage of it. I'm actually at the point I can put the whole thing in a pony tail now.
