Hey all you long hairs!

Post by grimmbass »

Dudes and Dudettes,

If I wanted to lose ten pounds quick, I could just cut off my hair (I'm pretty hirsute as it were). Any of you long hairs out there ever think about chopping your manes? And for those of you who did get scalped...anyone regret it?

Lastly....ladies, what are you thoughts? Do you like guys with short or long hair?

How about EX long hairs?

Of all the things I miss, I miss my hair the most....

When it started getting thin on top, I didn't want to look like one of THOSE guys.... So I figured if I can't have long hair, I wouldn't have any at all. I just shave it all off now. (First time I did it, my wife LITERALLY didn't talk to me for 2 weeks  )

Me back in the day (middle)

I got my hair cut off about 3-4 years ago and never looked back. I was doing the morning show on the radio and just got tired of having to deal with my hair in the AM, so I went to a salon, got it washed and brushed and had 19 inches of hair cut off. I donated it to Locks For Love, and haven't regretted it at all. Plus, the savings on shampoo, conditioner, and product alone could equal the GNP of a small country.

I always looked at it as finishing what Mother Nature started. Now it's a shave every other day as opposed to shampooing, drying, and combing twice a day. Goddamn razors are expensive, though. It takes a while to get used to that two mirror thing, too.

The past several years, I've been of the mind set that as long as I can still grow it at my age, I will. I comb it back, throw it into the ponytail with the little tie-thing, shampoo it regularly, no problem.

But more recently, I have considered getting it cut. It doesn't bother me much, except for the tangles when combing it out. I'll probably hold off cutting it now until next spring, though, as the hair provides a little extra insulation for my neck during the cold winter months. But next spring, when it starts warming up again, I may go the Locks For Love route. But I'm in no hurry...

Everything was cool for a long time, and then it started looking like this, so I got it cut.

I cut all mine off about ten years ago. It was easier to deal with, but it just wasnt me, so I grew it back. So now I get a trim about once a year, whether I need it or not.

I love long hair on a guy. however, it depends on the guy. not every man looks good with long hair.

I'm all about the long hair on guys, as long as its taken care of (i.e. brushed and washed regularly) and looks nice, but I think its more attractive to see someone just be comfortable with how they look instead of trying to fit in a certain mold or something. Being yourself is always sexier than anything else, and being yourself if that self wants long hair is even better...lol...

PS. Kent, I hope this doesn't mean you're considering cutting your hair...that would a crime against nature!

Mine is long and I'm having a fantasy lately of cutting it short. I'm afraid my boyfriend won't like it although he says he doesn't care.

On guys, I love long hair although when it comes down to it superficial things like looks aren't important to me.

lonewolf, that looks like the homeless guy in downtown SC.

I got mine cut a number of years ago because I was in desperate need of a job, and I wasn't getting callbacks after interviews. The day I got it cut, when I came home from the beauty shop (men with long hair have to avoid barbers if they want to be men with long hair), there was a message on the answering machine. "John, we'd like you to start Monday morning." Damn!
I grew it back, almost as long as before, but by that time, long hair was a bit out of vogue. What made me finally cut it was, one day, in the grocery store, I saw this loser-looking dude with a cheesy-looking ponytail and sweat-pants, and I thought, "Wow, now that's trailer-park." Then I looked behind the butcher counter at a dude that looked just like him, except different color on the sweat-pants. It was a mirror. It was me.
I stopped and got it cut on the way home.
Now, the only thing that stops me from getting my head shaved is the potato-sack shape of my noggin. I remember it from the Air Force days... it's kinda lumpy and enormous, and years later, it has a few battle scars from car accidents and such. I'm still gonna do it, though. I'll be the short, round, baldheaded dude... sort of a Uncle Fester/ Humpty-Dumpty hybrid with a dobro.-------->JMS

I can totally understand her point. I think I would react the same way. :D

My vote is for keeping the long hair!!

I chopped my hair off about 3 years ago and haven't looked back.
I was getting headaches from wearing the pony tail. I couldn't wear my hair down by that point because it was too frizzy. Now it takes about 1 minute to do my hair and I like it that way.
Plus I don't scare small children anymore and I got a lot of compliments from the ladies. My friends all gave me shit for cutting my hair but I said "Who cares! The women like it and that's all that matters."

I fall into the category of those "follickly cursed" by genetics. I used to rock the mane back in the day, as well, but about my mid- to late-20s, the old forehead started getting bigger, so one night about five years ago, I consumed a substantial amount of beans and drank a buttload of alcohol, then reached for the clippers — Gone. Poof.

It took some courage (and more beans and booze) to leave the house the next day — talk about culture shock.

Thing about this haircut is you can't turn back once you do it and you have no idea what it will look like until you do it, so it's a test of your self esteem right off. Luckily, I have a nicely shaped skull and everything worked out. Shaving is a pain in the rear end sometimes but I can swim really fast now.

My wife has never seen me with hair. She says she likes me with the noggin shaved ... lucky me. :D
