Local Stores - Monster Cables

Hey,

I was wondering what stores around here carry Monster Cables. I've had two instrument cables short out in the middle of a set in the past couple of months and decided that it's time to invest in some high quality cables.

Great choice, but I'm not sure off hand. I have been wanting to do the same thing myself.

More than likely, it would be cheaper to order them online, some versions of their cables can get kind of pricey.

One nice thing about Monster Cables is a no-hassle lifetime warranty. If you walk into Guitar Center and hand them a busted Monster Cable, they give you a new one off the rack and send you on their way. (Not that they are inclined to break, but nothing is drunk-proof.

That's the main reason I'm interested in investing in these cables. I'm not fooling myself into thinking that the sound quality is going to be better than a normal $10 cable. I just want something that I know can take the abuse of me stepping on it, having cabs rolled over it, having crap spilled on it, and still not short. I'm definitely all ears for anything that could fill this role and be cheaper. I was checking out the cables that Jeff mentioned, and I'm interested.

Quantum is a cheaper alternative. That is what I have switched to because the wire guage is thicker, and not as crappy as $10 jobbers.

You know that I bought a mic cable for Rob off of you. lol

It has served him well on those occasions where we run our own PA, and Rob has to actually bring more equipment with him than a mic and reciever.

I'd recommend putting some casters on the receiver's box. No need in
throwing your back out needlessly.

I went over to Music Emporium today and talked to Rick about this subject, and the answer that I got from him was basically the cost issue. Monster Cable is hella expensive, and there are a lot of quality lower-cost options out there. He told me that one of the amp companies (Mesa-Boogie, I think) did a comparison of 5-6 different brands of cabling to use in their demo stuff, and Quantum won over Monster.

But then again, I'm just a drummer...

Once again Kev if you have that much free time that you can go discuss guitar cables.. why are you in 6th place in the Rockpage FFL??
