I was curious as to two things:

What is your favorite lyric or most memorable lyric from any song,

and

What does your quote for Rock Page mean or where does it come from?

The whole Jefferson Airplane "White Rabbit" "When you're sloppy dead" comment from another thread got me thinking on this...

There are so many great lyrics! I believeve that your quote "If you wanna kiss the sky, better learn how to kneel. On your knees, boy." from "Mysterious Ways" is a great lyric. U2 has awesome lyrics throughout their tunes. I also really like some Train, Matchbox 20 and Fuel. There are so many that it would be hard to put a finger on just one or two.

I don't have any quote at the end of my signature. I do state "Be part of the Solution!". I think that our times are tough, we have a man who believes he is the right hand of God as our President and I fear the wars are just starting. Old Chinese Proverb "May you live in interesting times!"

I might change my end if I can decide upon a suitable quote!

Verse from Kansas, "The Pinnacle":

Cast this shadow long
That I may hide my face
And in this cloak of darkness
The world I will embrace
In all that I endure
Of one thing I am sure
Knowledge and reason
Change like the season
A jester's promenade
...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...

this may be the metalhead in me coming out, but I think some of the best opening lines to any song include:

One life, I'm gonna live it up - Judas Priest, Another Thing Comin'

Rise up, gather 'round, rock this place to the ground - Def Lep, Rock of Ages

and maybe the best first line ever:
Stand up and be counted, for what you are about to receive - AC/DC, For Those About to Rock

for pure poetry, a bunch of Chris Cornell stuff is right up there - like from Seasons:

Sleeping with a full moon blanket
Sand and feathers for my head
Dreams have never been the answer
And dreams have never made my bed
Dreams have never made my bed

Foo Fighters, from Everlong:
Breathe out, so I can breathe you in

there's so many more that I can't think of.........

as for my signature line (and the pic under my name), that's me paying homage to the greatest rock and roll frontman of all time, Diamond Dave
You better call me a doctor - feelin' no pain!

You can never go wrong with the Tool lyrics.

I really don't know what my favorite lyrics would be.

As far as the quote in my sig, it's from Carl of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. It's a cartoon about a giant box of fries, a milkshake, and a meatball who are detectives. (though they aren't very good at it) Carl's their sleazy, white trash, nieghbor. In one episode, two aliens come from the moon and win a Foreigner belt that grants them special powers. (For example, by saying "You're as Cold as Ice", they can freeze stuff, or telling someone they are a "Dirty White Boy" they'll start acting like a criminal) After reaking havoc, Carl finally steals the belt off of them. One of the aliens tells Carl that the belt will be useless without the instructions, but Carl responds by saying, "I don't need no instructions to know how to rock".

There's also a commercial that has Carl talking about the drummer from Foghat. I've been thinking of using that quote too.
"He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.

Yeah, man. My favorite song lyrics change about 3 times a week. TOOL/ Maynard lyrics are in heavy favorite rotation in my soul. Anything that speaks to my everchanging mood is my favorite.

As far as my quote at the bottom of my posts: It just means that things are not always what they seem and most times things should not be taken at face value. There is another quote that I use as a signature sometimes; "Don't count on tomorrow being more fun than today" It just kind of reminds me to get my ass moving and not wait for something better to come along. The time you spend waiting is usually time wasted. When I was playing regularly, I would spend any time that I wasn't at a gig whishing that I was at a gig. Then one day I realized that I was completely wasting 3 or 4 days a week just pining away for the days I was gigging. That's too much life to waste!

Black Sabbath on Masters of Reality, Lord of this World(Satan):

"You turn to me in all your worldly greed and pride,
but will you turn to me when it's your turn to die?"

Rage Against the Machine:

"You know they went after King When he spoke out on Vietnam
He turned the power to the have-nots
And then came the shot ...
Ya know they murdered X And tried to blame it on Islam
He turned the power to the have-nots
And then came the shot
Wake up!"

Mine are old, but timeless, and to me, all powerful...

"You can choose a ready guide, in some celestial voice...
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice...
You can choose from phantom fears, and kindness that can kill...
I will choose a path that's clear, I will choose freewill."

-Freewill, by Rush. Lyrics: Peart. Music: Peart, Lee, Leifson

Oh yeah, and one of the most messed up verses that I recall-from the band Carnivore:

"Jesus, I beg of thee, don't take my life.
Return me to the womb from which I was torn.
Birth is a sin.
And the punishment is death.
I wish you had left me... unborn."

Those guys have problems.

Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you got till it's gone. Paved paradise, put up a parking lot.

He's wise enough to rule the world, but young enough to lose it. (Botched Rush lyric..but you get the point)

Slipknot - "I'm not afraid to cry, but that's none of your business."

This is one of the most powerful things I have ever heard.

Tom Petty........."it seems so useless to work so hard and nothing ever seems to come from it"

that couldn't have been better said and it does have truth to it
