Midi Controller Keyboards

Post by Team Transylvania »

Does anyone here use a MIDI controller keyboard in their home recording setup?

If so, do you use it to control your DAW software or for VSTi's? or both??

I didnt want a 61 key controller, so i got the M-Audio Key Rig 49. Its really a great keyboard. Perfect size @ 49 keys. The Key Rig software it comes with is great, but i cant wait to use it with other software.

We have a little M-audio oxygen controller in the studio to use with softsynths/samplers in case someone wants to use it. ... Usually end up using the Motif though.

One time i assigned all the sliders to control the mixer on the daw, but it was a pain to setup and in the end it was just easier to use the mouse.

So IMO they are better used as a controller for the soft synth/sampler than as a controller for the actual daw... again just my opinion.

M-audio has always had some pretty cool midi stuff. I also use their 1010 interface and ProTools ME and i have a set of their BX5's (which i hate) and a Midisport 2x4 around here somewhere.

I wanted to get the delta 1010, but it doesnt have preamps. and an 8 channel preamp is too much for me to want to buy one. thats one reason i was thinking about the presonus fp10. 8 ins and 8 mic preamps for only 400$.

Absynth 4 kicks alot of ass as a soft synth. I love the sounds!
