RJD always seemed to be such a "nice" guy. I guess everybody has someone they don't like. Wait for the video.

I've heard of this before. Him bashing Vivian. Seems more like jealousy than anything. If Dio were as good a friends with Vivian as he clamed to be in other interviews, one would think that he'd be happy his friend is successful and not jaded about it.

"* In an interview posted on DEF LEPPARD's official web site, current DEF LEPPARD/former DIO guitarist Vivian Campbell talked about his disdain for hard rock. "The real irony of that is I actually don't like hard rock music," he said. "I know it's a strange thing to say, but I don't really care about my past contributions. Even now I still get these guys coming up to me going 'Duuuuuuuude!', giving me the DIO devil sign and yelling 'Holy Diver!!' and 'Rainbow In The Dark, whoo hoo!!' and it's cool that they remember it, but that music never mattered to me — and still doesn't." Campbell went on to praise and rip Ronnie James Dio, with whom he had an acrimonious split in the mid-'80s, "Oh yeah, night after night, [Ronnie] was absolutely on the money," Vivian said. "An incredibly strong voice and within that niche genre of dungeons and dragons and rainbows and midgets... You know, the sorta old school heavy metal, he's an incredible talent. But he's an awful businessman and way more importantly, one of the vilest people in the industry." Read the entire interview here."
hmmmm....
and BTW: The link to the Def Lep webpage with the interview has been removed, no doubt in response to this whole fandango.
I'm a HUGE Def Lep fan, AND a huge Dio fan. I think both these guys are being unprofessional and petulant, but I've read people's comments that say "Dio is jealous" (not just Vic's remarks, but others on other pages) or "Vivian is a bitch cuz Ronnie made him" blah blah blah.
I think, if you're honest about it, both guys have contributed to this, and it makes each of them look bad.
Oh well - I dig their music.

Jesus Christ, Joe you were scaring me.
I saw a Dio thread and you didn't coment.
I thought you died or something.
Glad to see you're still around man.
Dio is a funny little fucker though. I don't believe he likes Gene Simmons much either. Everytime I see him in an interview or something he makes little jabs at him.

DIO's
Yeah Brian, I'm still kickin'.
I've been playing guitar alot lately and haven't been online a whole lot.
P.S. Dio Rules!!
Oh yeah just wanted to mention that the Pre-Leppard Vivian Campbell was amazing.
Holy Diver & The Last in line were fuckin' awesome albums, very classic indeed.
They both need to find their magical inner feelings under the rainbow, kiss and make up.
'We are stars, we are magic in the night'!
Hahaha, Dio you crack me up.

Iommi used to refer to Dio as "Little Hitler". Granted, he's touring with him again, but not
sure that counts for anything.
Never cared for Dio's stuff (Or the genre, in particular) though I like some of DefLep.
BUT, Vivian Campbell, to me, is one of the most under-rated guitarist. His playing
with The Riverdogs (If ANYONE has a copy of that album, please lemme know) was
great, as was the whole band. Also, he did an album with Lou Gramm and a coupl'a
other guys as The Shadow Kings. The album was about as good as the band name,
if not worse (Rare to find an album so unbelievably awful that it's saving grace is you
get bored of it before listening the whole way through) but V.C.'s lead stuff and tone
on it was great (Lead bits were his only contribution).
