Even if Schaffer allows him the chance to write, at least then he'll have more recognition in IE. But who knows? He may prefer it that way too. One of these days, I'd like to have a band that does IE stuff and a lot of the Euro Power Metal stuff. There is a lot of good vocalists in that style of music that don't get a lot of credit because it isn't the mainstream.

Edguy, Stratovarius, Balance of Power, Nightwish. All that stuff. I wish there was a way for HF1 to do some Strato or Edguy without going outside of what we do, but it's too far past the 80s for us to do it, unfortunately.

Yeah I hear that. Who knows maybe someday you'll be able to do that.
That's kind of what I want to do. Like a mix of Power Metal, some olde Thrash like Savatage, Sabbat, Death Angel, Exodus, Overkill.
Well pretty much any underground old metal. It will be something unique to this area, and this era for that matter.
But unsurprisingly, I can't seem to find anyone to do that.
I think that type of thing would just kill in this area, cause it's different and fresh.

Stratovarius, now that's a band I've just been getting into. I'm really impressed with their sound and their writing.
All those bands seem to keep the same approach, but yet they all sound different.

I'm pretty sure I have Dreamspace, and Infinite. I'll have to double check on that.

Infinite is my favorite from them by far. But I also like Elements: Part 2. I wasn't very impressed with their newest album. The songs suffered because they were having some internal issues when the album was being written. Have you listened to any Edguy at all?

That sounds so familiar. I probably did, but I don't think I have any of that. I'll have to look into that.

Ever hear of a band called RIOT and MALICE?
I'm trying to find that stuff. Got any?

Go grab the disc Hellfire Club from Edguy. It totally rules. As far as Riot and Malice go, I could probably get Riot stuff fairly easily.

Ok thanks I'll check that out.

The Riot that I want are called
'Thundersteel' - 1986
'Privelage Of Power' - 1990

There's a new band out called 3 Inches Of Blood that is like the older stuff.

I have their album, Sons of Society, and it gets pretty good rotation from me. Their singer is fucking amazing (though he's not the original vocalist for the band). He's more bluesy, as compared to the usually operatic/falsetto voices you hear in that style of music. Their bass player, Pete Perez, is a monster too! Then again, Spastic Ink is his other gig, so he better be. ;)

Joe, another band you should check out is Angra. They're a power metal band, but they have this really progressive quality to their music also (almost like Dream Theater and Blind Guardian got together to write music).

Cool, I'll write that down Paul. Thanks.
You know instead of being up and up on the new metal and new music. I'm constantly finding old bands, and then I pillage their back catalog of music, finding all the good stuff.
Believe me it's enough to keep me busy.
I know I am probably closing my ears to alot of music, but in the process discovering all these great bands, that I do like.

LOL

No problem, all of this talk of power metal has me rocking out to some Jag Panzer right now.

I have just about the entire Riot catalog, so I can hook you up with some of their stuff. I would suggest starting with "Fire Down Under" or "Narita". I think I have Malice's first LP also - saw them back in '82 at Swizzles in York, PA. I heard they were back together (Malice).
