One of the female bassists out there creating the biggest buzz is Tal Wilkenfield (she recently toured with Jeff Beck). Here's a clip of her jamming at Bass Day 2006:

There are a TON of great female bassists out there, such as Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads), Melissa Auf De Fur (solo, Smashing Pumpkins), and Rhonda Smith (Prince, solo) to name a few.
