Sad note...

Post by HurricaneBob »

Jeff Showalter was killed in a motorcycle accident last night. He was good friends with Ron and Half Tempted and was also a drummer. Jeff would also frequent Peter C's on thursday Canes shows.

He will be sadly missed.......

Jeff was one of the nicest people I ever met. I could always look forward to seeing him about and about, and one time when I was in need, he helped me out by giving me a pair of Zildjian cymbals for nothing. I pestered him about payment, but he wouldn't take my money. I'll miss seeing him with his leather jacket, and shiny bald head. Rest in peace, brother. You will be missed more than you know. :(

I had just spoken with Jeff this past Friday night at the Ramada during Half Tempted's show.

I first met Jeff during the Korruption years; Jeff became one of those folks I knew I would always run into every weekend at shows. He was always checking out bands, and was always cool to talk to. A few times we would chat over breakfast at 6th Avenue Kings after shows, too.

Jeff indeed will be missed.

Jeff will be missed. He was always willing to lend a hand, and never seemed to be in a bad mood.
The last time I saw him I asked him if he was still wearing a helmet after the law changed, he assured me that he was.
... and then the wheel fell off.

Although I was not as close to him as you guys seem to be...I knew him a bit. Mostly from Petey C's. He was, indeed, a good guy. Sorry man, hope the wheels follow you so you can still be riding on them.
My condolences to his friends and family.

Got off the phone with Billy Bandito...the Memorial Service for Jeff will be at Thompson's Funeral Home in Roaring Spring on Wednesday, 4/21/04 from 7-9pm.

Not yet sure of funeral arrangements. If I hear, I'll post it here, unless someone finds out first.

I was fortunate to jam with him once or twice... nice guy, always upbeat, and seemed genuinely interested in whatever gig I was doing at the time. He'll be missed.--->JMS

Jeff will be sorely missed. He came to a bunch of our shows and always had a kind word of encouragement and a smile to give to all of us. We in Hair Force One send condolances to his friends and family for their loss.

Support your local music scene,Hummm,I think a lot of area musician's will agree with me when I say that nobody supported OUR local scene more than Jeffy.Always a smile,a hug,and a mandatory shot of Jack before the gig.I was very fortunate to share a few Banditos road trips to New York with Jeff,he'd throw the Zeppelin in the cd player and share laughs and stories that could make a long boring trip feel like a cruise to Sheetz. Our loss,as always,is heavens gain.My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Jeff's family and friends.Go with God my friend.

I didnt know Jeff as well as most...And most of the time I was his waitress...But I still called him my friend...I met him way back when I first worked at Aldo's and more resently been his server at Kings on the weekends.... Jeff was a great guy.... I will miss seeing him every weekend....What saddens me the most is I saw Jeff Saturday night at Kings ,but he wasnt in my section and I was busy I waved to him on his way out the door but he didnt see me, and I thought to myself oh well I will catch him next weekend, not knowing Id never see him again....I wish I would have yelled to him....I wish he would have seen me wave....So Jeff "HI" I'll save some mac and cheese for ya :) Love and miss you always....

What can I say that hasn't already been said?
Jeff will be sadly missed by all of us in Half-Tempted.
He was a Brother to us all, and had a great sense of humor.
If you knew ,him I don't have to tell you how kind and generous he was.If more people were like Jeff, this world be a better place.
Jeff, hope you are riding your bike in heaven and smilin' down on the rest of us.
Love you brother!

I saw Jeff checking out live music on 3 different nights during his last week with us. Always with a smile, he was willing to help promote bands, assist with equipment, and he was so generous to those he knew. The music community has lost a big fan. God rest his soul.

I think I can speak for all of us when I say that we all love Jeffy!! Such a wonderful person to talk to and hang out with. Jeffy will remain in our hearts forever! He will be with us wherever we go, being our gaurdian angel! Always remember all the great memories that we shared with Jeffy! The way he talked and the things he'd say with that tone of voice. :) Jeffy had a lot of friends, most of them did get the opportunity to pay thier respects. Around 400 family/friends showed up on Wednsday. But unfortunately not everyone got to go. Just want to let you know that we are putting a ride together In Jeffy's Memory!! We will keep you posted!

God Bless You Jeffy, as you blessed us with your friendship! We will miss you dearly and never forget the impact you had on all of us!
Love ya always!

Well, I went to Peter C's last night to see the Hurricanes and it was really sad for me to not see and chat with Jeff, his usual 'corner' looked so empty. I liked to think he was standing there in spirit though.
