Only 1 album to listen to

Post by metalchurch »

You have a choice of 1 album to listen to for the rest of your life, no exceptions, no mix cd's either.
List 1 Album, and Why.

I'm gonna have to ponder this for a minute this is tortureous actually!

Ok, I got it... I mentioned this before, so it may come to no surprise:

Iron Maiden - Powerslave

Why: I got this from my dad when it first came out, and this is one album that I can just listen to over and over, and get totally immersed in.
It has a little bit of everything, like instrumentals, great Lyrical content, Killer Drumming, and the Twin Guitar attack of Murray & Smith. And of course Steve Harris, need I say more?

Ok, lets hear 'em guys!!........Ron and JP this means you also!

Wow, It's a toss up. Either "Dark Side Of The Moon" or Skynyrd's "Live 1 more from the road". During a very turbulant time of my life I was able to find songs in both of these albums that would suit every mood I could possibly be in. You could say that they were the soundtrack to a 5-8 year period of my existance. Oh yeah... and they're really cool to get high to.

Wages of Sin - Arch Enemy.

It has everything I love: Good solos with killer harmonies, killer riffs, insane double kick, brutal vocals, moments of speed metal, moments of slower shit that make you want to murder your neighbors. I've never grown tired of it. Only one of a few that I can say that for.

And if I'm stuck with only those images to look at, their singer is hot as balls also....lol.

Probably Led Zeppelin's "The Song Remains The Same." It's got everything from a (good)mellow song like The Rain Song, to molten metal guitar playing in Dazed And Confused. I love live albums, and this one is my all-time favorite.

Led Zeppelin II. Covers the whole gamut of blues, jazz, folk, hard rock, proto-metal. So rare a band can connect like this on their sophomore album, but then again, so rare a band like Led Zeppelin.
"well, why don't you make ten louder and just have that be the loudest one?"

I would prefer to cover a few albums with a greatest hits package or a live album. Let me know if I'm breaking the rules but...
I would have to say my desert island album would be a toss up between
Iron Maiden's Live After Death
or
Black Sabbath The Dio Years.

If I'm not allowed to pick a live album or greatest hits package.

Excellent picks. I'd even lean toward Brave New World.
