Too much free time and Ringtones

Post by Big Jimi Cee »

Actually I don't believe that I have seen anyone post on this topic. If they did and I missed it I apologize

Something that I find quite annoying is that someone’s cell phone rings and you think that it is your’s because you use the same built in ring tone and not unlike myself are to cheap to buy custom ones from on line. With that said while doing some work in Calkwalk Sonor I said to myself

“ self why can’t I do my own ringtones?”

So I started playing around with editing samples from different audio, and project files that had on hand. I found that with a little practice I could very quickly extract a good sample that would not only work as a ring tone but if I wanted to do some looping and track over the sample I had a good sample to work with.

Now that I have a good sample how do I get it on my phone you ask.

Well being that my phone is Bluetooth compatible I connected my laptop to my phone via my Bluetooth dongle (he said dongle) and I was able to transfer my samples to my cell phone. You must make sure that the samples are in MP3 format for them to work on the phone. So now when my cell rings I have some very interesting ring tones.

My main ring tone is from Frank Zappa’s St Alfonzo’s Pancake Breakfast the Ruth Underwood and George Duke’s xylophone and synth lick just before it goes into “Stink Foot”

I have assigned the sample from the Chili Peppers rendition of Rollercoaster for when my honey calls me from her cell phone and a sample of Tu Pac’s California Love for when she calls me from home.

I am working for more and looking for ideas all of the time.

Is anyone else out there doing this, could be a good way to carry a sample of your own tunes on you cell.

Also for example if you girl/boy friend would call you could use a sample from the Black Eyed Peas “My Hump”. Imagine My Hump…My Hump…My Hump and so on.

Or if you were in a bad relationship you could use a sample from Nugent’s “Stranglehold” when this person calls Imagine I’ve got you in a Stranglehold…I’ve got you in a stranglehold…. And so on

Any other ideas boys and girls????

We have custom rings on our home phone for people. My Brother is a notorius bullshitter, not sure why but he always was. Anyway, when he calls, The Eagle's Lyin' Eyes plays.
My girlfriend works at Sheetz Corp. Office, and when they call, it's Johnny Paycheck's Take this Job and Shove It.

Most phones are USB compatible.. you should be able to get a USB cable at radio shack pretty cheap, and then you can just transfer them from your PC.

Whatever you do, don't waste money buying ringtones.. it's a total scam.

Why am I feeling overwhelmingly compelled to write a massive post on this? Bleh.. google it, theres plenty of apps to get custom wav/mp3 onto your phone, irregardless if you have blew-toof, usb, or whatever.

Where theres a will, theres a way =)
Laugh if you want to, really is kinda funny, 'cause the world is a car and you're the crash test dummy.
