i've seen that before. seems kinda weird, you really need to be reading the words while listening.

I know Jimmy Page was really into the Occult, but I don't know how much he would influence Robbie Plant. Plant would much rather write a song about wizards and mountains and somehow tie it into a JRR Tolkien book.

Research

Post by Imgrimm01 »

I've researched this stuff for a long time and it seems we all speak in reverse while speaking forward and sometimes it's purposeful ( done through our sub conscious and other times were unaware completely check out www.reversespeech.com to learn and hear more.

C'mon guys, you don't really buy into this stuff do you?

Reverse messages on records and subliminal advertising, what's next? is someone gonna say that they've seen Elvis? Well, I've seen Elvis too, he's fertilzing the dafodils at Graceland. This crap has been around since the 50's cause we all know what a demonic force Bill Haley and his Comets were.

These are the same people who think KISS means Knights In Satan's Service and who think Vincent Furnier was possessed by the ghost of 17th Century witch named Alice Cooper and that Paul is still really dead cause he was barefoot on the cover of Abbey Road, and that guy who see on CNN every now and then is a clone.

I went to the site, I heard it, it sound like someone saying "If there's a bustle in your hedgrow. . .etc" backwards, that's it.

Isn't it hard enough to write a decent set of lyrics forwards?

If there was anything to this backwards lyrics stuff, don't you think the Osmonds would have figured what "Do you homework and clean your room" was backwards and put that in their records?

Why is it only that song? If you're really recruiting for the big red guy why not put that stuff in all the songs?

Why only Zeppelin, why not the Stones and The Allman Brothers, and The Who too?

Why is it only 30 year old classics, why not Godsmack and Metallica, why only hard rock? Why not pop, granted Britney and N'SYNC are demonic for a whole other set of reasons but nobody's playin that crap backwards (it's hard enough to listen to, frontways)

Don't you think record company people would gladly part with their souls (assuming, of course, they have souls in the first place) to get the sales up on Madonna's latest CD?

You guys have been researching this stuff, what is the answer, is it....

Satan

Satan

Satan

or is it just a ....

I have an article about reversed speech, but I don't know where it is. It's pretty interesting stuff, even though I don't know if I buy into it all.

It is interesting to note though, while it's widely known that linguistics are controled by the left hemisphere of the cerebral cortext, the right side does actually have some primitive language and mathematical abilities. Maybe while speech is happening, both sides are working concurrently? Keep in mind the right side deals with abstract concepts, and one of those concepts is patterns.

Vinny, you forgot my favorite one; about how Hotel California is really about the Church of Satan and you can seen Anton LaVey on the front cover. *LOL*

I remember watching one of those ultra-conservative Christain programs a while back. (it was a four part series, I believe) It was funny how they would pull lyrics out of context to try and justify the meaning. They were even slagging on Garth Brookes. My favorite part is how they linked Rap music with higher abortion rates. Maybe it was produced by Jack Chick, that's about how absurd the whole thing was.

I'm with Vin on this one. I used to do a lot of experimentation with backwards sounds when I got my first 4-track, and here is the real test... try and do it. Try and record a phrase forward that plays back a different coherent phrase when played backwards. 'God' may be 'dog' spelled backwards, but sounds nothing like 'dog' when played backwards.

FITF has a good point also. If I didn't have the written words in front of me, I'd have no idea what those backwards words were supposedly saying.

I first heard this example years and years ago on an evangelist special about the evils of rock music. They also claimed that drummers cast spells on people through the use of voodoo rhythms, and that's why you get the urge to dance. I thought it was "happy feet".
... and then the wheel fell off.

To think playing Dungeons and Dragons actually boosted my drumming ability to pack the dance floor! w00t!

I remember when the Dio logo was the target... you can actually read it as "devil" if you really reach for it.

Urban legends can be funny (anybody remember what they used to say about disco-era Rod Stewart?) or ghastly (like Alice Cooper throwing a puppy into the audience and refusing to play until it was torn to bits and thrown back onstage... yeah, that could happen) or just flat-out stupid (Judas Priest made my junkie loser son and his gay lover kill themselves), but they almost always seem to boost record sales. I wish I'd come up with something good. I like to tell people the scar on my forehead came from a vicious knife-fight, as opposed to the truth, where my old pickup got rear-ended by a grandmother on her way home from the supermarket!--->JMS

They still show them on Channel 7 every now and then, They go after AC/DC (Anti-Christ/Devil's Child) and Eminem claiming that he hypnotizes people to have abortions, The whole thing is so whacky, lyrics pulled out of context and deliberatley misinterpreted, you what the whole thing reminds me of, the Witch scene in Monty Python and the Holy Grail

The music turned me into a newt. . . . .um, er . . . . . a . . . .I got better.

So remember kids, if your band weighs the same as a duck, your made of wood and therefor Witches, which is how we know the earth is banana shaped.

(of course if I weighed the same as a duck, it would have to be a pretty big fuckin duck)

I was cutting up ham yesterday and one piece ended up in the shape of the stereotypical devil head. Goatee and horns. It was even the Easter ham. Cool. The forces of good and evil do battle in my kitchen.

Wasn't is Dio who began the "devil-horns" metal salute? I think it was something his grandmother use to do to ward off evil spirits.

Yes, and he's rather vocal about being the originator of it, and gets rather angry when he sees people like Britney Spears frivolously using it. ;)

Oh, by the way, the Dio logo thing, was when the logo was viewed upside down.

Anyway, back to the backward masking thing... How about The Beatles with good ol' Revolution 9? Hotel California is said to have a backward message in it as well. I did a report and demonstration on backward masking way back in high school, including tidbits from Stairway to Heaven, Hotel California, Revolution 9, and some Black Oak Arkansas songs. Got an A 2 years in a row on it. :)

Um wow are those for real. It's still hard for me to believe people think that way and actually believe the propaganda that is fed to them. They say we/i'm a lost soul and are going to hell etc etc blah blah blah But i donno at least i still can think for myself and not believe everything that is forced and spoon fed to me. Oh well back to my evil satanic rock and roll. Funny how music & skating are the main things that have kept me out of trouble. I guess being a good faithful cow i mean christian is, follow without question. And we can't forget the do as i say not as i do.
Anyway that comic just made me feel like responding to such a ridiculous outlook on things.
Todd the evil music doer!

Speaking of upside down logos, does anyone remember the band ANGEL? On their albums, the ANGEL logo was the exact same thing upside down. Very cool. I'll bet Oral Songsmith remembers that.

This topic also brings a few songs to mind. Holy Smoke by Maiden, Send Me Your Money by Suicidal Tendancies, and Miracle Man by Ozzy.

Exactly... I grew up in the Pentecostal church, my entire young life to age 18, and I never stopped being amazed at what people will believe based on what a con-man/evangelist tells them, and how much of their money they will give that person. I recently had a deep metaphysical discussion with my friend, Tim Mann about that very subject... how these guys play on good, if gullible, folks who have little else but their misplaced faith. I believe if there's a Hell, there's an especially painful room there for guys like that. I've personally been to a Jimmy Swaggart rally at his heyday in the 70's, and he sent the collection buckets around 4 times in 2 hours. He railed against good ol' rock & roll most of that time, and I was SO satisfied to see him brought down by a hooker in the 80's!

And yes, I knew about the Angel logo upside down, whoever came up with that was a brilliant graphic artist. Great band, too... Greg Giuffria's keyboard solo on the live album is state -of-the-art for that time, and I got to meet the guitarist, Punky Meadows, at the Empire in Philly... cool guy. Thanks for the memory bump, Witchhunt!---->JMS
