I'd say gather up some money get a tarp and place it on some legs and put it over the keyboard player Done it before... the real problem here is not owning good equipment, but rather not owning enough tarps. Plus let's face it, digital keyboards are computers. They depriciate. By the time moisture ...

Update... Classics is CANCELLED tonight. Just found out. Wasn't our fault. Sorry to anyone who didn't catch us this summer. ---- Kevin - I talked to Pavlic, looks like I'm playing keys in a jam session tomorrow??? He wasn't very clear, so I just told him I'd come if wanted. So yeah, not much of a pr...

Ha thanks JP. I don't know if the fact that it was our last under-age show had anything to do with it, but attendance was double the norm after Pavlic handed out those flyers. There were actually quite a few over-21 people at the under-21 show. Speaking of which... if anyone wants to catch us one mo...

Next time somebody threatens arrest over a noise violation, say three words, and these three words only:"Do your job." The cop knows what he's up against case-wise... most district justices I know would laugh this out the door of the courtroom. An arrest, which is a big deal, means paperw...

Altoona barbie should be 60 years old, with accessory Bush bumper sticker and/or little yellow magnetic ribbon (to prove they support the troops unlike the america-haters driving around without little yellow magnetic ribbons), and will explode when exposed to noise levels above 70dB.

TO GET THIS BACK ON TOPIC

Hey can I say something on topic. Not about politics, just asshole neighbors and asshole cops. I finally had a day off the other day and was at my friend's house behind the Logan Valley Mall, in the pool in the middle of the afternoon. There were 8 people ages 18-22 there making a noise that 8 norma...

No way, I remember playing at Denny Huber's Crazyfest in like a 16-and-under deal or something ... and I started talking to this girl who was just onstage with a bright red keytar... (which just reminded me I'm 6 years overdue for a trophy cup!) So if any of them read Rockpage, my congratulations an...

Sorry to revive a week old thread but I had to comment on this. Are we talking good singers here or good stage presence in general? Because there are a million singers with A+ character and D- vocal ability. So ignoring all your Green Days and New York Dolls and such... To me, the greatest and most ...

Sorry to revive a post that's several days old, but I just got The Chris Stamey Experience's "A Question of Temperature." It's actually Chris Stamey backed by Yo La Tengo and the drummer from the dB's but it is a damn good album that is definitely making my best-of-2005.

question for the veterans... or all

Does anybody know of any open mic nights around the Altoona area? Or any places that would be willing to give a basically unknown guitarist/pianist a gig or two? Any tips appreciated.

Tabs are great for reference or speed-learning a song... but I still find the most rewarding method is your ears and the pause/rewind buttons. (or repeatedly picking up the needle if you're super old school)

edit: That sounded bad. I meant the needle of a record player.

Steve Reich and Benjamin Britten. Oh and Philip Glass... if you haven't heard "Glassworks" it's quite an experience. Never was into the whole atonality thing. Although George Crumb wrote some of the most frightening music I've ever heard. They just had a Morton Feldman festival here in Pit...

This is my first post, and I figured what better than to start with something I have strong convictions about.
