I know there are a lot of rants about bands that people Must see on here, but this one is different. I just got back from a show that still has me blown away. I saw Blind Johnny Death and the Maurauders (sp) and it was like a religious experience. They both play their own styles of music that are similar, but completely different. These are styles of music that most people consider to be dead, and these bands are rightfully thriving on it. They have talent out the wazoo, and it is an absolute pleasure to watch the music being performed live! Seeing the thumpin, slappin, and overall abusin of the upright basses of Red and Chris (the Maurauder's bassist) is just amazing. I also finally had the honor of meeting the prestigious RED! Heck of a nice guy!
Sorry to dissappoint you Red! (He just found out that I'm a little 21 year-old kid!) That's the second time in about as many weeks, that I've embarrassed myself with my age, so here it is for everybody: I am just a 21 year old kid, so......... very little of what I say on this board is based off of experience or true knowledge! Let it be known!
Anywho, back to the show......Both of these bands are on the virge of contracts or signing deals from what I hear. The talent these guys have should take them to the top, and turn everyone's musical taste in a complete 180 degree turn. After going to this show, I feel I was just fully educated on the real roots of Rock'n'Roll! Thanks for reading Y'all.
Holy Moly!!!!!
