I just got back from Crowbar, where Col. Bruce Hampton and his current band, The Codetalkers, played on Tuesday night. What a display! Col. Bruce on slide, Jimmy Herring on guitar and Bobby Lee Rodgers on electric banjo swapping and blending licks, on Southern funk, blues, jazz, bluegrass and various fusions therein. It was sweet to behold!
Only downer of the night - Crowbar had maybe 80 people tops!
Col. Bruce and The Codetalkers are in Pittsburgh tonight (Wed.) at Mr. Smalls, in case anybody is interested in checking them out. If you're into dazzling musicianship and improvisation, they're well worth checking out!
