Two new and wild CD's I'm currently checking out, has anybody else heard these yet?
Frances the Mute by The Mars Volta: This album is insane! My first impressions are Jane's Addiction meets Santana meets Dream Theater meets Yes, some early Floyd and Zappa stuff going on as well! Wild amounts of improvisation, effects, crazy vocal stuff happening! This band is definitely talented, but doing some very bizarre and off the wall stuff!
Alien by Strapping Young Lad: Strapping Young Lad brainchild Devin Townsend is either a genius, a nutcase, or both! In the Strapping Young Lad tradition, this is extreme, symphonic, operatic, apocalyptic cyber metal; extremely heavy, but technically dazzling and precise. I'm kicking myself because Strapping Young Lad just played in Pittsburgh this past Friday night (Rex Theater), I missed 'em!
2 new CD's to explore, if you dare...

Mudvayne's new album (Lost and Found) is pretty tight too. Nothing new was really brought to the table with this album, but it is still tits.
Sorry, that wasn't PC was it....
