Battle for Ozzfest

Post by bassist_25 »

Okay, what's everyone think of this show? Personally, I'm sick and tired of every television idea being formated into a reality show. I guess it's a better idea than what is normally done - charge a band a price that is about the equivalent of a private college education to play on the second state. Of course, there's no guarantee that those bands will get noticed or picked up by a label.

Discuss.

edit: Woo hoo, my 600th post; I guess that's a testament to my boring life. *LOL*

Not a fan of this show...and knowing Sharon Osborne, I'm sure almost everyone on it is paying like they do the 75 grand for 2nd stage...

Second stage is only $10,000 to play on. I have an article from Biohazard in one of my Penthouse magazines. Biohazard turned down the deal, because of the pay to play thing.

Anyway, the format for the contest is stupid. This is what I would have done. Put each and every band on the second stage - hell, let them all travel to every OzzFest and play a third stage just for the show. Let the crowd to the voting. That would be a true test of who has what it takes. Don't make them wash laundry, eat a fake bat's head, other pointless contests. Show us their trials of putting up with life on the road, networking with the crowd and signed bands, show us their stage presence, let their music do the talking. That was dumb of them to pick one member to represent the whole band. Like I said - very poor judgement on the format for finding a band to play ALL of next year's OzzFest.

I saw an interview on Fuse where they said it's 75,000....Perhaps something is going on with Biohazard more so than Ozzfest...IMO, I know Ozzfest, like alot of the business, is a shame for money but, the fact that it's Biohazard coming up in more than one place lends me to think that perhaps they feel scorned....

As an awsome hater of all things "reality" I must say that if I were to watch a reality show it would be this one. First because the kids are heavy metal and nothing like the fake bullshit Ambercrombie bitches you see on all the other shows. And second because they deffinitly didnt want to be on the show they were all really disappointed when they found out it was gonna be a reality show, it was so funny to see thier reactions! I also love the fact that they are OZZY's pawns, his little finger puppets. I think Ozzy is a frigging genious! Ozzys own reality show was frikin hillarious and so is this one! Seeing as how you do have to "pay to play" to be on OZZ-fest (shitty deal) its great for those kids to have a chance whether a label picks them up or not. I really dont think they have to pay if they win, none of those kids look like they could afford it anyway so it would be pointless if they had to. The whole thing is supposed to be about them getting the "chance of a life time and having a real shot at something that could be huge for their career. All the exposure from the TV show will get them a deal no prob. whether they're any good or not (IE>Good Charlette). Any way kudos to OZZY and the cast of the show!
Cheers, Aleesha

Those are all good points, Aleesha. I really wasn't begrudging the show; rather, I was venting my frustration with the reality format. I'd rather see the bands rock out instead of watching them do menial chores in an effort to "pay their dues". Still, if I see the show is on, I will usually watch it.

And that Chelsea chick is cute. We need more tattooed metal chicks, damn it!!!
