Indeed it is a sad day. Rodney was one of my favorites. The No Respect album was one of the funniest comedy albums ever made. And for me, Rodney's performance is what made Caddyshack as great as it was. Hopefully Rodney is getting some respect now...
One of very few entertainers my Dad and I agreed on (Benny Hill and Buddy Hackett were the others). I doubt younger kids will ever know what effect he had on comedy. Impeccable timing and delivery, and self-deprecation is funny without being mean. He gave lots of top comedians their start, including Jerry Seinfeld and Sam Kinison, and one of my favorites, Steven Wright. I respect ya, Rodney!--->JMS
Sad, Sad, Sad.... he was definitely one of the greats!
One of my favorite's.... "My wife said she was bored, wanted to go out, wanted me to take her some place she'd never been before....... I took her to the men's room!" or something like that!
This was always my fave.. when he talks about being a baby and his mom tried to breast feed him...then decided that she liked him just as a friend. heh. no respect.

I'll be the one left standing behind you, looking the other way as you glance back at what you've lost.
I think I know just what Rodney said upon entering heaven.....
"Gimme two of those, gimme six of those and Hey, (pointing at St. Peter) That's some hat. . .with a hat like this I'll bet ya get a free bowl of soup, (then realizing it IS st. Peter) but it looks good on YOU, though"
