I will not post anything about how wonderful the Rockpage Summer Jam was. I will not post anything about the great performances by Felix, Homers Army, The Grimm, etc. ( The Daylight, Family Friendly Grimm was a sight to behold!) Anyone I missed sorry!!

I will not say anything about how I was floored by The Nightcrawlers! If you have not seen this band then you are missing out! They were amazing!

I will not say anything about how much I enjoyed this event, being able to bring my children to a live music event with pertinent music is an honor for me!

I will most definately not post anything about how few people showed up! I would certainly not ever suggest that maybe the reason the crowds are not there might be our own apathy towards each other, I mean if we can't even get together and show up for an event like this....

Regardless of Our Political beliefs (Ha HA HA!) we are musicians. But... Long before I was a musician I was a fan! I loved going and seeing these guys play their hearts out for 40 people! Amazing! I would never say Shame on the rest of you! I know alot of people have things they have too do... but 50 people out of 1000?

I still love being a fan! I will always go out and see bands play, I love it! I changed my mind...

The Nightcrawlers rocked! You have to see these guys, talk about chops!!!

All bands did really good , it was a fun day, yes a little slim but still very fun.

Hopefully the small turnout doesn't keep us from having another.

And of course hats off to Bob from the Hurricanes for setting it up, "Lonewolf" for sound, "onetoolound" for the canopy that kept some of us in the shade, the bands, and everyone that came out

My only regret is that there were probably a few rockpagers there I didn't get to meet...... next time I guess.

Just wanted to let all of you that didn't show up today at the Rockpage Jam, missed one hell of a show. I can't believe that so many of you said "Oh yeah, we'll be there" well where the hell were ya????? I can't believe how many people bitch about not having anything going on with the music field and once there is, no one shows up. What's wrong with that picture? I do understand that some people have things planned, but it was an ALL DAY event. Could have poked your heads in and said hello, listened for a song or two, something. Ya bitch about no one supporting local music.......I think you need to look in the mirror before you say another damn word about that, and you know who you are, no names need be dropped. I would like to say thank you so very much to all the musicians and bands who were there today, I was there with my daughter and was very happy that I took her with me and some very close people. I enjoyed the day very much. Bobby, thanks a million for including me in the days events!!!

Thanks to all the bands and musicians - Ever Since Yesterday, Homer's Army, Felix & the Hurricanes, The Grimm, The Nightcrawlers, Strummer Acoustic Show, Acid Reflux Matt and the other musicians - who came out and took part in the Rockpage Summer Jam, and to the fans who did come out to support the effort. Also thanks to Lone Wolf for running sound, "Onetooloud" for helping out (and also the wings and pizza), and to the Railroaders Memorial Museum for the venue (what a kickass stage!). And thanks to former Hurricane Charley for staying east and yielding right of way to Hurricane Felix and the rest of the musicians this afternoon - the weather was great!

I was disappointed by the low Rockpager attendance. For those who had to work or attend to family needs, etc., that's understandable, no problem. But if you could have been there but chose to bypass the event, keep in mind that - as so eloquently said onstage by Bob from The Grimm - we can't gripe about other people not supporting our area's music scene if we as musicians and music scene-geared folks can't support and generate excitement for our own scene ourselves! And support for the scene aside, you missed some excellent performances!

But low turnout aside, it was still a fun afternoon, and everyone in attendance got to see some great performances onstage. Here's my vote for more Rockpage Jam events down the road (look for one sometime in early or mid winter, like this past January's event at Peter C's - if not sooner!).

What was it? The weather was nice, there was a variety of musics to choose from, Was it the donation? $5? , most of you, myself included, spend more than that on ciggarettes, and you couldn't turn up, even for just a few minutes, to support the cause. Ya didn't have to be there for the whole thing, I had a late night the night before and I didn't get there til 4 but I showed up, I made my donation, heard some awesome music, I even got to jam a little.

I've got to thank everyone who performed at and attended the show, and must send my apologies to everyone for not being there. I wish that I could have, but the Atlantic Ocean was in the way.

I've spent the last 7 days underneath an airplane hanger in Hamburg, Germany, and had to have my stay extended because of a network wiring problem on the plane we are preparing equipment for. Wow, to hell with the turnout. 6 bands played like there were 100,000 people in the yard! Im glad i got to see Songsmith, Lonewolf (thanks for the great sound), ESY, Homers Army, The almighty Grimm, and the Nightcrawlers. Thanks so much for our stellar entertainment for the event! You never know how music will affect your life on a given day. Mad props to our newest RP friends Homers Army and the Nightcrawlers. Amazing stuff from 2 totally different bands. And thanks to the Crawlers for jamming with us at the Hitching Post after the summer jam. You guys rock!

The next jam i organize will be by invatation only, since today showed who really cares about our situation and how to make it better. Everyone there, and we know who we are will be invited to a jam at a smaller venue, an intimate setting where we can bring back the fire everyone showed today. And we will laugh at future postings by fake wannabe serious musicians who by crying on this forum will be totally ignored....or an ass raping will be delivered.

Thank you to all the musicians that performed yesterday at the jam. I had a blast. We heard some awesome music and the professionalism with which everyone presented themselves...........WOW!!! I have to say that i spent all last week looking forward to meeting some of the rockpage folks that I don't know and hanging with those I do, BUT because the VAST majority of you were TOO LAME to even bother showing up... that didn't happen !! Don't misunderstand I had a great day everyone was awesome and I enjoyed the show , the bands were there and giving there all to something they believed in, and also let me say you all were in TOP FORM (nightcrawlers-- walking on the moon ) nuff said ! But I stick to what I said during our set yesterday, we have over 1000 people on this forum and I have read posts from alot of you bitching about poor turnout at the clubs you're playing ...well you know what ?DON'T !! I mean really if you can't come out to your own events how can you even say anything about the public? You know what I think we just answered the question.. What is wrong with our scene? Looking forward to the next jam myself and guess what baring an emergency I WILL BE THERE!

For those who didn't make it to Pellegrine's on Sunday night after the Rockpage Summer Jam, here's the last chapter of the benefit as I presented Harry Jr. with the $220 raised for Pelly's staffer Lee, who suffered serious head injuries in a freak fall several weeks ago...



The Rockpage Summer Jam was a lot of fun - and the fact that the monies raised went to help somebody in need made it even better!

I was honored to share a stage with you guys (and lady). Homer's Army: you guys are even better than I was told. Excellent, excellent classic rock band who will be a major force around here very soon. Best guitar tone: The guitarist from The Nightcrawlers. That Tele-whacker was suh-WEET! And Walking On The Moon... I wouldn't have even thought of covering that -- awesome. Thanks to Lone Wolf... at first glance I thought the PA would be too small, but I stand corrected. That's a bunch of bang in a little box, right there. Any more would have sounded much worse due to the vicious slapback off the Museum. That same slapback, however, made my harmonica sound like God, like this huge surround-sound voice... I stepped on Felix's solo, I was so caught up. Felix and the boys have a way of helping you achieve that connection to the groove.
The Grimm slammed, both originals and tasty Metallica covers, and Bob's still my front-man hero. I really enjoyed hanging with the ESY boys, we actually come from very similar backgrounds, and they have their heads on straight, as well as being a rockin' unit. Good to see my ex-bandmate Bob DeArmitt with another sweet Tele, rockin' them blues in the jams. I liked Lone Wolf's show as well... that's a HUGE amount of work to get a show like that up & running... even the guitar overdrive and effects cues were programmed into the tune... very cool. Jim Price, you're always THE MAN. Thanks for the ad-time, the on-air mentions, and emcee duties. Altoona has a better live scene than cities 5 times larger, and it wouldn't be that way without YOU.
Not A Figure Of Speech Alert: Shame on you if you didn't attend. There was zero excuse as far as weather, or ego clashes (unless it was YOURS), or equipment problems (except for Otto's cable consumption), or needing a babysitter, or any excuse. I was there all day, and wear my sunburn like a badge. I'm old enough to remember when bands didn't join together like this. This was a show for a thousand people, played for 50 people, and I'm glad I was fortunate enough to take part.----->JMS

Onetooloud for the canopy, conversation and the pony - ha ha - really hit the spot. Thanks to the Railroaders Museum for an amazing venue. All of you are amazing people. Im sorry I didnt get to meet everyone. It was so cool to put faces to the screennames. This was our first trip to Altoona and to be quite honest, we didnt know what to expect. My only regret is that we didnt get there sooner to see ALL of the bands. We got there during Homers Army's set. Holy crap guys, those harmonies killed and the song selection - I was truly impressed by the execution. We were forewarned the Hurricanes were rockers - HA HA - understatement of the year! Your originals were fantastic and the stage presence is 1st class. Ummm why are you guys still in the area and not out on the road???? The guy on harmonica....yikes!!!! I wish hed have jumped up with us too - great player! The Grimm - yowsa so tight! Bobby, I wish I would have taken the opportunity to talk with you more. Its obvious you care deeply about the Altoona music scene and it shows. Im not a huge metal fan, but wow....impressive, impressive - I especially enjoyed the Metallica! Ya know, I guess that sums it up for the whole day....terrific musicians, all playing their A-game, no egos and lots of love and community. I want to express a heartfelt thanks just for having the opportunity to meet and see you all! It was a special day for The Nightcrawlers to make new friends.

Man it doesnt get any better than that! And if you think it does, then dare I suggest your heart is not in the right place or you just ARE that apethetic towards the local music scene. Im not about to scold anyone, but I would caution that taking the "local scene" for granted is a dangerous thing....it may not always be there. SUPPORT, SUPPORT, SUPPORT!

Lisa and I wanted to be there, but ended up being in the hospital for most of the weekend. With a wedding on Saturday, then being in the hospital on Sunday. It was insane. I'm still wore out from it all. I am sorry I missed it.

I'll echo all the sentiments above it was a great day in music land.

The turnout could have been better but, then there may not have been such a close knite feeling, which likely made the day. Maybe only 50 people showed, but they where amoung some of the most refreshing people Iv'e met. Thanks to many new freinds!

The railroaders museum made for an equally unusual setting, bombproof stage, cool machines everywhere. The folks at the museum could not have been better. Once in a lifetime show!!

Sound was much more impressive then you would have been lead to think, judging on size only.

There where more sounds and music variety there than could have been heard in several months anywhere else.
