Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the April 10 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

We debuted plenty of new music, including tunes from Royal Benson, Andy Mowatt, David Uosikkinen's In The Pocket, Dana Gaynor Band, Tony Torres, Whiskey Burn, The Semi-Supervillains and One Adam 12! We also updated "Local Music News," remembered the late Frank Genovese with a 2003 song from Frankie & the Nomads for this week's "Local Music Flashback," stepped "Across State Lines" to hear a number from New York's Midnight Mob, and reviewed Doug Irwin's The Bridges That I Burn CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

One of the area's first outdoor festivals of the spring season happens at the end of April. The 12th annual Mayfest of Huntingdon will take place on Saturday, April 30 in downtown Huntingdon. The festival lasts from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and admission is free. The festival will feature a variety of activities, food, refreshments and entertainment along four blocks in downtown, with each block tied to a historic time period. Musical entertainment for this year's Mayfest will include the Backyard Rockers, The Sharptones, Dan & Galla, Strait & Miller, Nick Miller Project and more. For more information about Mayfest, visit the website www.mayfestofhuntingdon.org.
As reported last week, a popular name on the Johnstown area music scene passed away recently. Frank Genovese passed away at his home on April 2 at the age of 62. Frank was a singer and guitarist, and travelled the country making music in such bands as The Blues Bag, Cigarette, Poet, and most recently Frankie & the Nomads. He also was a carpenter, and his work included renovations at Culver Studios and Westwood One Radio Network, both in Los Angeles. The "Homegrown Rocker" expresses our sympathies to Frank's family and friends.
