Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the December 9 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 9 to 11 PM during Steelers football season on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com).
This week, our guests were new Bedford/Huntingdon County rock quintet Vice Versa (https://www.facebook.com/viceversaparocks). We met the band members and learned their story, and heard tracks from their recently-recorded EP Salt on the Money. Plus the group brought instruments and played a couple of acoustic numbers on the air! Since Vice Versa features former members of Fayted and Insult to Injury, we broke out two “Local Music Flashbacks” this week, a 2005 song from Fayted and a 2001 song by Insult to Injury! We also updated “Local Music News,” and reviewed Eric Val’s 3 Year Struggle CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.”
Here is this week's playlist:

In Local Music News…
Halestorm achieved another major milestone in their career this past week, when they received their first Grammy Award nomination on Wednesday. The group’s hard-rocking single “Love Bites (So Do I)” from the group’s sophomore album The Strange Case Of... was nominated for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance. Singer Lzzy Hale becomes the first woman nominated for that award. The group is up against several established names for that Grammy, including former Grammy winners Iron Maiden, along with Marilyn Manson, Lamb Of God, Anthrax and Megadeth. The 55th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on February 10, 2013, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
The band Dakota Rose recently underwent some changes. Longtime singer Laura Peach relocated to Florida, prompting the remaining band members to bring a new singer aboard and change their name. The new singer is Pat Conway, who joins guitarist Jai Bunting, bassist Richard Vargoli and drummer Phil Hautz. The new lineup has dropped the word ‘Rose’ from their name, and is now known as Dakota.
