My neighbor recently lent me a vintage tube amp book written by the owner of GrooveTubes. There are a lot of cool old ads in it. I also have an old Fender amp and PA catalog buried somewhere in my bedroom at my father's.
A lot of the marketing back then was targeted more towards the hobbyist, since playing in a rock 'n roll band was the cool thing for kids to do in the 50s and 60s.
