Sad news. He was one of my favorites during the period when I really followed pro wrasslin.' Macho Man was in some of my favorite bouts, including his legendary match in Wrestlemania 3 vs. Ricky Steamboat, the whole friend/foe relationship with Hulk Hogan and more.
I'm sure WWE will air some remembrances to the Macho Man on their upcoming television shows. Ooooooooo-YEAAHHHHHHH!

One of the greats! The article said he had a heart attack behind the wheel. It seems like alot of the wrestlers die young. RIP Randy.
Oddly, this is the last day for workers at the Slim Jim plant here in the Raleigh area. http://www.witn.com/sunrise/headlines/_ ... 36843.html

Got to work out with him when he came to Altoona to wrassel at the Jaffa in the 80's. He was at the Back Wall fitness club, now called the Summit. Surprisingly, he was not very large. He was very muscular and very cut, but not any bigger that I was at that time (5'11'' bout 210lbs). I also remember he was very tan. He was a minor league catcher before he got into pro wrestling.
One of the greatest pro-wrestlers of all time. Didn't matter who he was wrestling, you watched him, mostly.
I hope I go out like that. "Let's see next stop, the grocery store... eggs, milk, bread... hey, what's that chest pain?" Done. Nothing all drawn-out and painful, just a few seconds of unpleasantness, then an eternity of people saying nice things about you.

This was another one of those "Hey, it's all over Facebook, so maybe it's true... Yeah, it's true..." moments for me. I woke up, checked Facebook, saw someone posted a story, so I did my research, and found out that it definitely wasn't a hoax
Looking back, I remember my uncle always doing his impersonations of "Macho Man, Randy Savage". And then there was the Spiderman scene, where he was known as "Bone Saw". He was always easy to pick out in a crowd, and had a certain attitude, all his own. Whether you liked him as a wrestler (as I did), or didn't, he was well worth watching. RiP, Macho Man

I read yesterday that his brother was Leaping Lanny Poffo, and his dad was Angelo Poffo, who my dad watched wrestle. That's quite a lineage, I had no idea. Those were guys from a time when wrasslin' was less "As The World Turns," and more... wrasslin'. There was a fantastic documentary on the Bio channel a few months ago... when you really dig in, pro wrestling is FAR more complex and art-like than we give credit. In the end, everybody works for pretty much the same company, nobody hates anyone more than at any other job, and you have to be pretty good to make something look painful and destructive while actually making it as safe as you can, because you have to do it again day after tomorrow.
