Grammar-meister, loop-meister: Your caring guidance is much appreciated.
The word "meister" is German in origin and means, "master." American slang has adapted this word to be used as a suffix to form coumpound words that are usually used as a sarcastic nickname, linked with a hyphen; however, the spelling of "meister" does not follow the English "I before E" rule.
You're welcome.
If plain and proper English is what you seek, I am the purveyor of such. You're welcome.

Yeah, my wife has dealt with this for the entire time I've known her. The endometrial cells leave the girly-parts (highly specialized medical terminology, yeah, I'm pretty smart) and adhere to the intestine, the bladder, and the outsides of said girly-parts. It does cause cramps... the kind that leave you curled up in the fetal position. It's ruined lots of potentially great times for us, and is the main reason we can't have kids. I'm not endorsing it as a payable disability, but it has greatly affected our lives, and the pain is debilitating. As a husband, it kills me to see her hurting, and there's nothing I can do.

As I stated, Palin didn't scare me away last night. I liked a lot about what she had to say and how she said it. She seemed pretty down to earth and she did a great job of illustrating how she does indeed have the required experience (moreso than both on the "D" ticket) when it comes to the executive branch of government.
I liked how she brought up the "family issues" without going in to them; and she's right, the predicament her daughter finds herself in is not exclusive to the Palin family. I do think in light of the pregnancy she should admit that her stance on sex ed is closed-minded and should be re-evaluated.
I don't personally fault her as a parent for having a pregnant daughter — my oldest child is 22 and I'm 38, so do the math on that one. Incidentally, my daughter just graduated from college in the spring and was valedictorian of her high school class, so having a child as a teen doesn't necessarily mean the child's future is effed.
I don't want anyone here to think I'm taking the moral high road in this. What I've tried to illustrate, similarly to what Johnny has said, is that maybe the whole Palin family needs to focus more on home and not so much on making history, that there might be people at home that need her more than the country does right now. Just my opinion and it has nothing to do with her gender.
What I don't like (and this isn't Palin-specific) is the push to drill at all costs. It is only a stop gap to a bigger problem, one that should've been addressed in the '70s when the oil crisis hit — alternative fuels. People like to talk about it during elections but no one seems to want to really do the work. We're a technologically-advanced society. I have a phone that's a big as a credit card that can take digital pics and video, can organize my day, send instant messages to anyone and it cost me nothing other than my monthly service fee. Consider that, then ask the question why we still we can't build an affordable vehicle that does not burn pertoleum to run.
I'll tell you why: Greed. As long as the powers that be are getting rich from oil, we'll never have viable alternatives to oil and the poor will continue to be poor.

The surgery for it is, in the majority of cases, a cure. Its laparoscopic with usually three or less incisions required. Diagnosis starts with an ultrasound I believe.

My wife had that really bad. She had to have a hysterectomy. That was back in the late 80s. I hope they have a better solution these days.
And yeah, it is hell to see some one double over in extreme pain like it can cause. And you can't do anything for them.
Thanks for the clarification JackANSI and songsmith I don't want to give the impression that I don't think Endometriosis isn't serious. I know it is. All my sisters have it and have managed to be gainfully employed. (Not sure why I don't have it)
I was trying to illustrate how disability seems to be rampant and not necessarily based on "dire" need.
I live in Cambria county - it's waaaaay politically different in these here parts.
I agree. I thought that Palin did an excellent job with her speech. She was a little too "down home" for me, but that's just my perspective. I'm sure a lot of people are looking for that in a candidate.
Unfortunately, I still have trouble voting McCain, which is actually sad, because I've always respected the hell out of McCain and I still respect the hell out of McCain. He's just aligned himself too much with the neoconservative movement that's permeated the White House for the past eight years. I'm not happy with the direction the country's going in; I don't know if Obama is the direction it should be going in either, but I do know that what we're doing here now isn't working. I think, perhaps, that McCain being a nice guy and straight-talker for so many years and losing nominations has caused him to take on the tactics of his predecessors. It's like the nice guy who never gets the girl, so he becomes a jerk to get laid later in life. You can tell it's not him though. You can tell that he knows he's above mudslinging when he has to attack Obama. Unfortunately, he feels he has to do it because now he's in his party's rumble seat. I honestly don't get why he's doing that when looking at this election from a strategic standpoint. Before, McCain was the best candidate to get the pendulum of this country to swing back to the center. He was loved both by non-whack job conservatives and non-whack job liberals. It boggles my mind why he is pandering to the neocons in this election. The country wants change from the past eight years. Why would he be harolding the precepts of the Bush Regime?

Here's the exact Wikipedia entry:
The word meister originally means "master" in German (as in master craftsman or as an honorific title such as Meister Eckhart; akin to maestro). It has been borrowed into English slang, where it is used in compound words. These neologisms mostly have a sarcastic intent (for example, "stubblemeister" for someone with a short neat beard; heard on BBC TV; or concertmeister, leader of a symphony).
In compound words such as Wachtmeister or Polizeimeister, the word meister has also been used as a police rank of Germany with the first usage dating to the 19th century. Many modern day German police forces use variations of the title Meister. During the Second World War, Meister was the highest enlisted rank of the Ordnungspolizei.
Meister had a recent resurgence in American popular culture with two characters. The first, "The Rich-meister," portrayed by Rob Schneider on Saturday Night Live, added meister (among other words) as a suffix to the names of his coworkers for comical effect. More recently, the character Stifler from American Pie referred to himself as "The Stif-meister", in an attempt to portray his high self-confidence. The usage of meister in American Pie likely dates back to the Saturday Night Live usage. It is also often used in referring to Formula One driver Michael Schumacher as Der Regenmeister (the rain master) due to his highly-rated driving through low-visibility or wet conditions. It has also recently been used in the anime Gundam 00 referring to the pilots of the Gundams as Gundam Meisters.

Yes, you're right. That is word for word. You could almost say you're the "right-meister."

No problem, Trace. My wife is the main bread-winner here (she's an RN, I'm a musician... draw your own conclusion), so it doesn't keep her from her job too often, but the fella's here who help our ladies deal with it can attest to how much it sucks to see someone you love hurting. Crystal had several laparoscopic procedures, mostly to laser away adhesions on various abdominal organs, and several other operations for some witch-doctor-y stuff that never worked. At this point, she'd go with a hysterectomy, but women can have problems later from that, so she's just waiting it out right now.
I got where you're coming from in your post, though. You're pretty accurate, otherwise. Hug your sisters, they deserve it. Mother Nature's monthly visits suck, but it's definitely worse if she hardly visits at all. --->JMS
I do have a request though. Please don't take my political attacks as personal attacks. More than a few of you have. I am passionate about my political points of view. I study with as much time as I have to do so.
Many times I get corrected, I accept this without complaining. In fact I like to see people thinking about our future and the ramifications of our votes. I respect every one's point of view who disagrees with me. If I don't show respect for your point of view because it might not be clear to me, I do respect you personally.
On a personal level, I respect everyone on Rockpage. When you state a political point of view, expect me to ask you to explain yourself.
I'm not very good at explaining myself all too often, that's why you'll see multiple posts in a row. Such post have led to confrontations with a few Rockpagers, behind the scenes.
You (plural) need to know that my posts are not an attempt to embarrass you. I just happen to love politics.
As I have explained to some of you. I don't expect everyone to agree with me. The world might be a mess if that happened. But I will continue to challenge your points, not you, your points. And I expect the same from you.
Amen, Hawk!
I feel the same way. I enjoy bantering politics with people and every once in a while I actually change my mind. I especially love eloquent speech and accuracy, but I'm not too damn removed from the "mountain" to be a snob about it. A well-turned phrase always gets my respect.
A couple years ago I was in an abortion discussion and the more I thought about the circumstances presented the more I really thought about what my point of view was. And it changed. Not completely, but considerably different than it was.
I think that what all of us can hope is to respect and learn from each other. The more we do that the closer to peace we get.

Also the one where the Captain of the boat is shoveling dogs into the fire to make steam for the boat. he says (in a pirate voice) "In ya go".

Here Johnny...is a good recap of the events from PMSNBC that explains it in detail--its not as bad as the DNC party line is espousing. Don't worry, its actually shorter than a Songsmith Rockpage rant.
Only slightly shorter. And I'm far more interesting... case in point:
Isn't MSNBC a Marxist left-wing pinko propaganda machine? What the hell are they doing being quoted by a known conservative? Aren't they brought up everytime the phrase, "Faux News" is mentioned?
I hear Rush quoting the New York Times now, too, when they print something negative about Obama.
Today's word is "selective."
I'm working on the long-post thing. I agree with you on that one... but the truth is, I never had much problem pouring a tall glass of Johhny on paper. I generally go back over my posts before I hit Submit, and wind up editing out maybe half of what I write. I talk a lot, too. I'm not working on that, though.
