nakedtwister wrote:Obviously this moron knows nothing about music. A front man does not make the band. The complete and total union of band members is what makes a band. They all must be on the same page. Gel if you must. You wanna know why GNR made it? Because they had a gimmick, a good manager, and good musicians!!!!! NOT AXEL ROSE!!!! Put Victor Synn as front man in that band and they would have been 10 times better. Why? Because he's personable ( for all you illiterate trolls that means he is an all around nice person and treats his fans with respect and shows his appreciation even though he's not getting $100 a ticket/ seat ). I can name 20 - 30 bans in this area alone that can blow them out of the water but they would never admit it because they are modest and personable!!!! So don't degrade anyone on this page when you haven't a clue. And take that and shove it up your wart infested ass!!!!!!!!
yes, i don't know a shitting thing about music and tech perfection but i know what moves ME. i'll never buy your album because you didn't drop a note .. who cares?
your joking, right? GNR made it because they "had a good manager"?? well, then GO HIRE THEIR MANAGER AND GET GREAT! END OF STORY!

this is too funny.

i know you "guys in the back of the stage" (i mean YOU drummers and geet players) don't want to belive it (i don't blame you) but your FRONT MAM makes or breaks you! PERIOD! cold, cruel, hard fact, but true nonetheless. the sooner you acept this the better off you'll be.(i no you no this but won't admit it.. talk about ego..)

it's only about "dropped notes' to other muscicians and high school teacher!, the rest of us couldn't care lesswant EN_ER_GY!!!! LASER BEAMS!!!! CHARISMA!!

l@@k, your FRONT MAN is the KEY! get this thru your head! you get AXL to front YOUR band and I will garantee you you dont have no worries!! you get a mediocre front man and you will get only THIS far.and no farther. you get an AXL, an skys the limit!

i look at the front man. i MIGHT occasionlt look at the geet player if they are particularly aggressive and stik thre geet IN MY FACE attitude. lastly i look at drummer (if he's tommy lee i might look a little more heh :) )

but unless your band is doing mainly drum solos or gett box i am outa there if your front man aint KIKIN!!

NO WHAT I AM SAYIN???!!!!!

Noextender is a chick who likes assholes. They all do, just some of them get smart eventually. Anyway, she strikes me as the type who hooks up with the bad-boy full of ATT_I_TUDE and EN_ER_GY, then is surprised and hurt when he beats her down, maxes out her VISA and nails her teenaged sister. Damn, they look good, though, don't they, nosuchaddressreturntosender?
Let me introduce you to a frontman I know who is waaaaay better than Axl:

He's the eight-inch wonder, the little God o' Thunder
The master of disaster, the hella hymen blaster
The flesh colored pickle that'll make yer monkey trickle
The pillar of passion that is never out of fashion
The everlasting boner, the orgasm donor
The purple pleasure-giver that keeps bouncin' off your liver
He's Big Harry, baby, and he can't sing much, but he's ALLLL attitude. He'll spit in your face if you get close enough. If you beat him, he'll keep comin' back for more. Hell, I've tried to strangle the bastard nearly daily since I was twelve... he loves it.
And his backup band's nuts.---------->JMS

Maybe the hand's not too small... maybe the glove's too big.

Besides, that "little" stuff works on insecure guys. I have a lot of bad qualities. Insecurity isn't one of 'em.
I'm smarter than you. No matter how hard you try, I always will be. Now me and my little peter are getting back to the real world, where I often experience real life. Try it sometime. :) -------->JMS

you want "sloppy"... gee sus most metal today IS sloppy!
You have no idea what you are talking about. By sloppy I mean, wrong notes, dead notes, missed notes in parts of his playing...mostly I'm guessing to heroin overusage.

Go listen to Arch Enemy, Nevermore, MegaDeth, etc. and you'll find speed and excellent precision on guitar. I've seen those bands live too and they do it the same.

Personally I am done wasting my time with you. You are a moron. This is my last post to this troll. I do not like Led Zeppelin. I will never like them. Comprehend it. Being one of the greats does not make you oblivious to the human opinion of dislike.

And I've never heard Page play with Cream but, I did like Clapton's playing with them (not saying if he did or not, just that I have not ever heard it).
who gives a shit abut dead notes.. i'll leave technacal perfection for high school music teachers.. and YOU. give me charima and EN_ER_GY any freakin day!!

the worlds full of technacal perfection.. BFD!! so what??? so YOU never drop a note... ohhhhh what a genus you must be.. guess your rich and famous too.. bigger than GNR??

get a clue. AXL was REAL DEAL! what made him THE GREATEST also destroyed him.. i'll give you that. but I'll take his RAW talent& Chaisma over your tech perfect any day of week and twice on sunday!!

Ok, double post here. nosurrender you have been bested. Some people stay here for other reasons that not making it big (like family, for instance). Not every musician plays to make it big. You can come back with a post saying, "Oh. boohoo, you didn't make it so you say that," to which I would reply, "You don't know me, the opportunities that I have had, or that I really play because I love music...." So let's just save that discussion from happening and let me tell you this:

You are a moron, an imbecile, the most idiotic person posting on here. To ever knock someone for not getting out of here is nothing more than just plain retardedness. And in the spirit of what this board is about I will reserve this post at this point and as I should have when I said it before, I will politely step out of this before it gets out of hand by saying what I really would like to say.

Also for the record...

I've had label interest... lots of people have. At the time I chose my friends over my career. I was in a band with my best friends since early childhood then, and it was a package deal.
I sang on a charted record in Europe. Also not that big a deal because it was a ripoff record company that folded and the owner/manager "disappeared.
I've heard my songs on the radio, heard thousands of people sing them back to me, made lots of chicks, signed autographs, opened for rock legends, engineered sound or lights for country, gospel, and jazz legends... and it all pales in comparison to wailing some harpoon with the Hurricanes at Peter C's, or laying down some mean-ass lap steel with Blind Jonny Death at the Post. That's not even mentioning jamming with my own band. Beeyotch.
I live in a very humble house in a very nice place, and it's mine. I look at deer and listen to an old hoot owl, and mow my lawn and tend to my grape arbor and that makes me happy. I want you to read the next sentence very, very carefully:

I live a good life, and I have good friends I treasure, and I WOULD MOST CERTAINLY TURN DOWN A NATIONAL RECORDING CONTRACT because I know more about them than most folks around here. Accept that as the truth. Beeyotch.

I'm gonna let you in on a secret. There are those here who know who you are, nosanity. Everytime you log onto this site, your computer leaves a little trail of zero's and one's, and those are traceable. You are only allowed to continue your little exercise in mental retardation because it's entertaining to see people respond to such stupidity. You are a cyber-pinata. You can't grasp the difference between fact and your opinion... you're sort of the Rush Limbaugh of this forum. He's on heavy meds, too. Thing is, with some of the other threads heating up, we don't need you anymore. Clear out your desk and leave. Or start your own band, pay some dues, and speak from experience, not your ass. Beeyotch.---------->JMS

Just about a year ago
I set out on the road
Seekin´ my fame and fortune
Lookin´ for a pot of gold
Thing got bad things got worse
I guess you will know the tune
Oh ! Lord Stuck in Lodi again

Rode in on the Greyhound
I´ll be walkin´ out if I go
I was just passin´ through
Must be seven seven months or more
Ran out of time and money
Looks like they took my friends
Oh ! Lord I´m stuck in Lodi again

The man from the magazine
Said I was on my way
Somewhere I lost connections
Ran out of songs to play
I came into town, a one night stand
Looks like my plans fell through
Oh ! Lord, Stuck in Lodi again

If I only had a dollar
For ev´ry song I´ve sung
And ev´ry time I had to play
While people sat there drunk
You know, I´d catch the next train
Back to where I live
Oh ! Lord, I´m stuck in a Lodi again
Oh ! Lord, I´m stuck in a Lodi again

who knows these lyrics?

Of all the shredders, Vai is probably the most soulful other than Satriani (who by shredder standards, is not truly a shredder)...

I don't get the argument that playing 100 notes in the space of 3 is a lack of soul and heart. If my soul screams in 32nd notes, is it not just as soulful as someone whose does it in spacing? Can't a line played super fast be soulful? Every line that I've written has had every note painfully chosen, whether it was 2 notes or 64...

I just don't get it. Soulful playing is a matter of who you are and if you are some ADD spaz like Yngwie, maybe your soul talks @ 32nd notes...

Well said!!!

Speed, like anything else, is just a tool used to help one express his or her musical idea. As long as the player has something important to say, it doesn't matter if it's being expressed in quarter notes or 32nd notes (or 64th notes :D )

I've heard a lot of bluesy pentatonic stuff that I'd classify as "wank".

I meant nothing bad about Steve Vai. I have been a huge fan since the Jack Butler role in Crossraods in the 80's. (The cutting contest is one of the best music scenes in any movie period.)

I also have nothing against 32 or 64 notes. Carlos plays plenty of em. Listen to Song of the Wind on the Caravanersi album. Come out and see Jason Feathers play the ass off of that song, and Phantom of the Opera, or practically any Flame Sky song.
Slow or fast playing does not give a player soul and hear.

But I would still go back to my original post and have no trouble saying, that of 2 very world calss guitar artists, I think Carlos has a little more soul and heart in his playing that Steve Vai.

When a new Carlos recording comes out, it is a major seller, why, cause guitar and music afficianados appreciate it, AND public as a whole.

When Steve releases new stuff, mainly guitar and real music fans get it.

Both are great peices of music, with great guitar. Maybe the reason the public will make the Carlosalbum a big selling hit, may be the soul and heart that he has put into his music for over 30 years now.
