Dropping a bombshell...
Gah... What in the Hell, man??? That has to be the biggest pile of BS I've ever heard! "Hey, you've done us great for 25 years. Here's your pinkslip..." I'm half ready to make a marshmallow roast out of the Q94 building! Who's up for marshmallows???
Jim, for all it's worth, you've inspired many. You'll continue inspiring us. And as you've helped so many over the years, I know I stand with those many. I'm here for whatever it may be worth. I don't know much, can't do much and am but a lone man, but I'm a man in a mass of men and women behind you. Best of luck in EVERYTHING, don't let this stop you!
Thank you, JP, for inspiring and helping so many. I think it's our turn to do what we can for you

I too can relate on a personal level, only I've had about 15 years to adjust to it, since local radio in the Huntingdon area died its tragic death in the early '90s. A very good friend of mine and former "voice" of the region, Terry Bitner, was one of the last on-air hangers-on, but was axed by Forever last year shortly after "the machine" acquired the AM where he was working.ToonaRockGuy wrote:JP,
More than anyone here on Rockpage, I can feel your pain. The same thing happened to me at Forever Broadcasting when I was at Rocky, and it sucks. BXQ just lost it's most valuable asset, and they have no idea. If you need anyone to talk to, give me a call, I can relate, my brother.

He too is now at Walmart.
Grrrr.

That's what she said.
Those idiots - didn't they realize that just lost 99% of the reason why people dialed in? What a bunch of fucktards. Honestly.
Good luck, Jim.
Good luck, Jim.

JP,
I just got back from vacation and heard this news. Holy S$*&!
I just want to wish you all the best in anything you do (whatever it
may be). You have been an ardent supporter of live music of all kinds
in this area for years. In many ways you have been "Our Voice", especially on a local level. God Bless, and hope the future is bright
for you. The local scene has lost a great asset (on radio), but I'm sure your other endeavors will continue to show that our music community
is alive and well. You have my support as we have always had yours!

First to everyone who has responded: Thank you for your support; it is much appreciated.
I do have a request...While I appreciate everyone here taking up for me, please do not take it out on Diane or Adam or the other staff at Q94. The decision was made from above, and the other employees are victims of the decision as much as me. They are fearing for their jobs as well, and the "Eff Q94" trashing could cost them their employment as well. I do not want that to happen. Diane and Adam especially have been fighting in my corner to keep me on, so they do not deserve the mean-spiritedness.
While I'm disappointed in the decision, I can't dwell on it, and have to move forward. Make lemonade from lemons.

Go Jim! My stepdaughter Melony Lenz did the news at Q94 in the early 80's and they canned her too. She went on to the Big Markets like KYW in Philly and WBAL in Baltimore but still there would always be bumps in the road.Make lemonade from lemons.
One day when she worked at a station in Philly after she did her morning shift, 12 minutes before her next co-worker was to do his show at 9:00, they told him that he wasn't "Going On". Then they started this goofy second countdown thing where they started counting backwards from 10,000 seconds to zero which was like to the next day. Then the next day the station was an automated disco station. Yeah, they fired everybody!
Radio is Tough!

Best of luck Jim! They say things happen for a reason. Maybe this will lead to bigger & better things.
