if you play Free Bird everytime someone yells it, it wouldn't take long at all for someone to stop the shouting of it, by any means nessesary

Drum-Wolf wrote:As for people yelling for Lynyrd Skynyrd at virtually every bar & club in Pennsylvania, perhaps we all should consider these words:

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
& the wisdom to know the difference.

Playing "Freebird" once or twice as well as other Skynyrd songs doesn't guarantee the shouting will stop. I've been there.
One of these days, if i ever get the chance, if someone yells Skynard or freebird in the middle of my song, im just gonna stop the song and start playing it every single time they yell it. Eventually they will get sick of it and stop yelling for it

I think I'm going to start a service where I go to other bands shows, and for a small cut of the proceeds, I get really drunk and start loudly requesting the next thing on their setlists.

It will make them look better.

For a slightly higher fee, I will take the stage for an air guitar solo, and allow the band to roughly push me off.

Sounds like me and Tyler, my singer, at the Spirit Lost shows.

We get drunk and rowdy, and have the setlist, so we can just request the next song. Its pretty sweet.

Oh another pet peeve.

New pet peeve: Sheetz's new "Lower Price Value Menu." As I learned the hard way, misleading. The reason a number of their menu items are now "lower price" is that ingredients that used to be included in the price of the food you were ordering at the old price now cost extra...like cheese. Bottom line, watch the touch screen closely when you order any of the supposedly "lower price" items, because some of the ingredients are now individually priced as extras and may run your bill higher than what you used to pay for certain food items.

Chell: sometimes I think people just blindly add whomever just to have that high friends count list. I'd love to know just how many on their list they truly know personally. I had a disclaimer up once about adding bands requesting a message be sent along with the request telling me a bit about the band. I got at least a dozen requests from various bands that week and not one message. I get at least a few hits on my page every day. Is it people I know? who knows. What they're looking for is beyond me. I don't blog very often. (hell my last and only blog was about the beggars show I attended a few months ago)

Bag: now why would I call you an annoyance?

kissmy: You're not supposed to ask without already having your hands on the goods. hehehehe

my current annoyance.... trying to decide how to spend NYE.

Hmm, let me see......Ohh us!
Lets go to the chalkboard children, shall we?
Band A who plays Freebird: 26 shows in Dec.
Band B who doesn't play Freebird: 0 Shows in Dec.
So STFU and get out of the garage.
Would you like Killers, Run to the hills or Phantom of the opera?

You are now free to go re-line your ass with a fresh Christmas ham! :P

I am glad that someone understands the abstract reason why a double negative is logically incorrect. That is one thing that I truly love about grammar. Some people think that language and math are two exclusive subjects, but that is not the case. Rockpage, I am truly happy to see such dedication to grammatical correctness. Together, we shall enter a new era of punctuation.

Once again, I am welcome.
If plain and proper English is what you seek, I am the purveyor of such. You're welcome.

Dear Mr. Hurricane,
In a side by side comparison of successfullness. There are few on this website that could compare to you, and your band. Please believe me that their are various reasons why there have been no Echo Chamber gigs in December, and that our decision to play, or not to play Free Bird has had nothing to do with it. I appreciate your willingness to hand out advice, and although maybe it doesn't seem like it to you, I do respect your opinion.
My example of requesting Iron Maiden at your show was merely to illustrate a point. I'm sure there's a point, when even you yourself would rather just let a fan go, than try to save them. Personally, I have nothing against Free Bird, but you have to draw the line somewhere. I'm not playing that God Bless Texas song (god do I hate that song) no matter how loudly someone requests it.
For the record, my freebird question was directed at Ken, leaving me weighing in slightly on your side of the "debate." I do respect you and your opinions, but I am puzzled by your need to dispense your advice with such a combatative attitude.

For the record, I'll take Phantom Of The Opera.

My band does freebird, what's wrong with that? Anyway, it's requested a ton, but think about this: How many bands have you actually heard play that song? I haven't heard many at all. Besides, freebird is the tune playin at the end of the Devils Rejects. Kick ass....

When I go to work on Tuesday, the first thing I will do is tell Chris Kunzler that the meat we are selling to sheetz sux :)

I noticed that sheetz did rais the prices, jim. I don't liked that either. I also noticed that they don't have certain things available, like they used to. Or certain things not allowed to be selected for a particular thing anymore.

I also agree that subway subs are good. Then I also like CC Pepper subs also, but, my personal favorites will also be either a Mariana's hoagie or an East End hoagie.

And thanx Cpt. Grammar for your input. What I stated at first does erk my temper - I am finding that the constant use of "got" in a sentence is starting to wear me thin as well. Thing like "I got to go" or "I don't got none". When will people learn to put "Have" where "Not" is ???

As a last note: What is it with freebird ? I used to scream it when I went to listen to my dad play, that was only to be a dork. But if truth be told; I am extremely sick of that song. That and "Stair Way To Heaven" are two songs I will never voluntarily listen to again. Of course I should also Mention that if Froggy plays "God Bless The USA" one more time, I will personally go up there and choke the working DJ until he can no longer breath !!

thats what I meant rob. Its become such a cliche that its never done. Granted probably at least 75% of the people yelling FREE BIRD!! just do it because thats apparently what you yell. But I'm sure there's a few cats out that that just want to hear the song.

P.S.
Jimmy Johns subs are the absolute best, no comparison.

I get your point Mitch. So what about the people that yell Slayer? Band's don't do that because they can't! :D Anyways, we do 4 Skynard Songs. People don't usually yell Freebird, they yell Skinnard! So we give them a choice of what they wanna hear. But anyways, we do our own version of Freebird that makes it fun. We do a fast as hell train beat when the fast part kicks in and Skippy blazes on the fretboard. It lasts like a minute instead of 5.
