Booyah! Carter had the distinction of not being beholding to any single PAC or faction. He played his principles, good or bad... highly underrated because of the Iran Hostage situation... my take on that is that the Iranians were at the end of their ropes anyway, and used Reagan's inauguration as an escape hatch. What's Reagan gonna do, say "oh, that wasn't me, that was gonna happen anyway." Part of Reagan's strength was that he knew how lucky he was.
BTW, Clinton hasn't been in office since Jan. 2000, and like the current Bush, quacked like a lame duck for about 2 years before that. Republicans won the last election, too. It's time to quit pointing that finger and get something done. Republican president, Republican Congress, conservative stacking of the Judicial wing currently underway, and little good getting done. They need to stop mentioning Clinton's name during EVERY conservative talk show, and do something positive. Clinton got a BJ from a college girl. Have you seen his wife? Do you honestly blame him?
The Democratic Party is in too big a disarray right now to be much of a threat. Instead of attacking, use that energy for good instead of evil.
Blaming Clinton is part of the Rove strategy. Deflect. Deny. Defame. Detach. Devalue. Rove is the worst thing to EVER happen to American politics, and especially the Republican Party. His sour grapes over the disastrous Nixon presidency have him using many of the same tactics, but refined by 30 years of practice, from using "the war" as a cover for political positioning and profiteering , to cronyism of the highest level. Mark my words, when he falls, it will be one of the greatest debacles in American history.
Every time I hear Clinton's name, I smile a little. He's never lost an election. He was a Rhodes scholar. He presided over the greatest economic expansion in US history. He sat with some of the highest poll ratings ever for any president. And he got his "D" slurped by a busty brunette coed. It ain't O'Reilly doing phone sex with a creeped-out production assistant, but it is funny. No matter what the Right did, it didn't hurt him... Lord knows, they're still trying.

Economic data have already eclipsed 1997 levels with much rosier prospects ahead. There is one big difference between now and then:
There is no .com bubble house-of-cards driving this expansion and so there will be no .com bubble to burst. Whomever moves into office in 2009 will not be handed a shitty stick like Willie handed Shrub.
A huge leading indicator is the surge in online trading during the past 6 months. All that money on the sidelines is just now trickling into the economy. Unemployment is at 4.8% and falling. This economy is about to turn into a juggernaut.
Another strong indicator is that our corporate controller came to me about more factory automation because of increased demand on production. I usually have to go to him with hat in hand just to squeeze in few new PCs. We haven't had any kind of major expansion project since when? 1998.
The way things are going, I may just reach my New Year's resolution by the end of March.

Democrats say conservatives love to dump on slick willie. Why not?
He was the worst president we ever4 had. Should be shot for treason. I'd volunteer, and I don't want the blank bullet.
Democrats also love to throw up the smoke screen, it was only sex, that's all. They try to brush away all this guys treasonous acts, by saying so what, it was just a BJ from a fat chick that didn't swallow.
Every presidential administration used the Defense Dept. to determine which technologies we can sell to potential enemies, especially the Communist Chinese. Well Slick Willie gave the responsibility to the Dept. of Commerce, under Ron Brown, Commerce Sect. No Defense Dept. people were involved in what technological advances we might be selling to our enemies.
That is how the Chicoms ended up with the advanced missile tracking technology, allowing them to now target any city in this continent. Loral Corporation sold this to the Chicoms, in exchange for huge political contributions as well as the well known illegal campaign contributions from the chinese...(using front groups such as the Buddist Monks contributing hundreds of thousands with consecutively numbered money orders, which got Al Gore in some trouble).
This guy is so dirty, he is recieving millions from the United Arab Emerites, helping behind the scenes get this port adminsitration deal, while in public his wife the Hilldabeast is all over the news shows saying what a bad thing Bush is doing, giving these ports to Arabs.
Democrats will not be able to get away with the it was only sex smoke screen about Slick Traitor Willie.

So true, so true. If any party is the one that drives this country into the ground it will be the Democrats. Makes me glad I am an independent ..RobTheDrummer wrote:You know, my biggest beef with the Democratic party anymore is that there are too many extremist leftists. I mean come on, they keep getting crazier and crazier.

I added about 10 paragraphs to this post, but cut them, there's nothing I can say to change your mind... I do hope you'll research the items in the page linked here... that might moderate the rhetoric a bit. Let him who is without sin...

Some interesting numbers here about spending and troop deployment.
Using the numbers from Bosnia Haiti and Somalia, we should have a lot more troops in place, and be spending more on rebuilding.
http://www.rand.org/commentary/121003ND.html
It also considers succesful and failed rebuilding efforts following wars - Bosnia and Somalia listed as failures.
