I'm not sure what the plans are yet, but we should figure it out soon. I hope Joe G. goes, that guy rocks! If you guys aren't leaving till 4 or 5, maybe we could use the Q 94 parking lot as a staging ground, that way Jim could either follow us or jump in w/ one of us, depending on the situation. I am really pumped. I wonder if Franz being w/ him will direct the set list to more of an early Scorps thing as opposed to the more classical vein. I hope they do some Scorps, (you know they'll do Charon) but not exclusively. Either way, I'm sure we'll all leave just as stunned as last time. I hope JP gets to do something for PA musician w/ him too-that would be cool.

UC Joe, Jen, Nate Woods, & I will be leaving around 3:30. We're going to head out a little early-possibly meet our friend Jimmy down there-and get some thing to eat. Happy travels all, I assume Ronny, Joe G., Steve, JP, etc. will be leaving from the Q94 lot. Next time I see you we will be in the graces of one of the best guitarists of all time!
Well as advertised...Uli was incredible! Even with many technical problems he proved he belongs in the ranks of Via and Satriani. All that and 3 encores. I hope everyone got home ok. It was a tough ride home. Big thanks to Ronny D for getting our van load of Rockpagers to the show and back again safely. And also for a couch for me to crash on when we got home. Thanks bother. Hope to see all you guys soon.

U-LI! U-LI! U-LI!
What an excellent performer. I heard one guy before Uli Jon Roth's set say that he felt like he was going to see Beethoven on stage. It was almost that magnitude, it might have reached it had it not been for the technical problems. But Uli did it all, from early Scorpions to Vivaldi, showing total mastery on his guitar. He's one of those players for whom the guitar long since became an extension of his personality, he speaks to the audience through his instrument! With Uli's former Scorpions bandmate and bassist Francis Buchholz onstage, I was expecting to hear some Scorpions numbers, but was floored to hear such early Scorps classics as "Dark Lady," "Polar Nights," "Sails of Charon," "Catch A Train" and more! The trip itself was fun (even if I found out the hard way that there are no rest stops along the Capitol Beltway). I'm still recovering from it, we didn't get back til 7 AM this morning! Thanks to Ronny D for the transportation and laughs, and Joe and Steve for the pre-concert concert in the minivan on the ride down!
Some pictures (these are slightly blurry, Jaxx didn't allow flash photography, so these were all taken without flash - but you get to see the video footage in the background, too):

ULI! ULI! ULI!

Francis Buchholz.

Again, Uli Jon Roth.

Uli, singing "All Along the Watchtower" during the first encore.

Uli, his singer, and Francis Buchholz.

Uli and Francis Buchholz.

From the second opening band, The Lizards, former Rainbow, Black Sabbath and Blue Oyster Cult drummer Bob Rondinelli.

After the concert, Ronny D gets his guitar autographed by Uli. Uli even picked it up and jammed on it!

Ok, so the shows over, but here's 2 vid clips of the current band doing "We'll Burn the Sky" to remember it by. It's not the Jaxx show, but it was posted on the 14th-so it must be from the night after. I see Uli must have gotten his wah fixed in the meantime. I can't tell if he's still using the Lizards' amp or not. It sounds kinda thin compared to his usual tone, but that could just be the video.

ZXW,
I'd really be into that. Trower is truly awesome. You should post a separate thread about it to attract more attention. This thread was pretty successful in getting a bunch of 'Pagers to go to the Uli show (plus, Trower is way better known than Uli, so it would probably be even more successful).
