The radio situation is pretty abyssmal down here in the Bedford area as well. About the best station around is Bedford's WBVE, a.k.a. "B-Rock". It's not exactly a "true" local station, since they get their music and DJ's satellited in, but they do manage to play some surprisingly good stuff at times. Unfortunately, if you listen to it for too long, you start picking up the pattern, and all the repeats.

Since 94.3 can't be picked up easily around here, the Q-94 we've always known was WQZK from Keyser, WV. It used to be an excellent station back in the day, but I believe they too went to the remote DJ thing, getting their stuff pumped in via satellite.

For those in Johnstown, what about WDVE? That station's signal was always hella strong, and how is their playlist these days? I haven't listened to them because of no cable right now, but I do know last time I did listen it seemed like there was MANY commercials and those singing comedy things about sex and bathroom humor just annoy me. Back in the day, though (mid 70's), I'll tell ya what if it wasn't for that station as well as WYDD which was a little more alternative, my musical knowledge and preferences might have turned out different. We had NOTHING here...

WDVE barely comes in in Johnstown. There is nothing to listen to in that town anymore.

WDVE's been fairly repetitve the last few years I've heard them.

Can't pick it up here in the Bedford area at all, but I used to tune it in while driving back and forth to the Pittsburgh area. I remember hearing the same set of songs in the exact same order 2 weekends in a row. Sure, not as bad as repeating daily, but I still thought it was pretty dumb. And I swear I heard "Gimme Back My Bullets" every time I tuned it in.

I forgot to mention this one. I was listening to the Rock a couple days back and Metallica's the Unforgiven came on. Cool song, in it's own way. Well, apparently there's no room for the guitar parts in it! They cut the intro and the solo in the song. Both of them were just shells. What the hell good is Metallica with the guitar out of it??? I've heard this on a ton of other songs too on this station.

You know what else I have noticed?
it is that they actually speed songs up a little, for the obvious reason of having more on air space to sell throughout a day. being a vocalist with a pretty damn good sense of pitch, I could tell that the pitch and tone was a little different on several occasions, and concluded that if they cut, say, 5-10 seconds from a number of songs in a day, how much airtime will they have gained? Now that is fucked up if you ask me!

Yet stations always seem to play Freebird the whole way through.
