I guess I'm just more laidback about it than you, Kevin. The HOF, along with the Grammies, is a good ol' boy club, and I've always recognized it as a good ol' boy club. I've never thought of any entertainment awards institution as being anything more than a bunch of self-important people voting on their tastes (and in the case of many awards institutions, record sales) and the music industry taking a night to pat itself on its ass in hammy self-adulation. So for me, when someone gets snubbed, I really don't worry about it too much, since the awarding institution really never had credibility to begin with.ToonaRockGuy wrote:We care because sadly, so does the vast majority of non-musician types who love music. If there is an elite segment of anything, and there is an obvious glaring omission, the fans of the omitted should do whatever they can to make sure that the omitted is included, thereby righting the wrong on some level.
Does Rush need to be in the HOF? No.
Should they be? Absolutely. And as smarmy as the HOF has turned out to be, that is still the injustice.
Not saying I'm elite because I disagree with you. You're still my bro, Kevin.
