Yeah I think that's how Jesus put it. Don"t help the beggar. Yeah that's in the Bible. Go out and only help people who work. Don't visit people in jail, don't help the poor.

Guess what, donations to the poor and sick don't help enough. Society bands together (a government) and through all of us we Can help. We Can make a difference.

Those non working sick / helpless / handicapped people ?

Those people who work for minimum wage ? NO doctor for them ?

I dont like the people who cheat the system either. But I would guess that they constitute perhaps $1.00 of your personal tax.

Let me say this again ... As long as you are helping yourself and trying that is fine. I am more than willing to give you a hand. If you just sit on your can and do nothing to help yourself when there is no ailment that keeps you from doing so, then do not ask ... How hard is that to understand? Should I post my speech I did on my version of welfare reform for college? Maybe then you will understand my point more ..
No shit, I get your point. you don't like slackers.

But I do not agree that there should not be health care for everyone just because a few are slackers. While you would prefer to let some working poor die because they don't have access to a doctor, I prefer to let the slackers have health care so that the working poor can too.

Do you realize that YOU already pay for the slackers who use the Emergency? And It would cost you less if they had access to a doctor because of Emergency sky high costs ?

Boring

Post by tornandfrayed »

Oh I thought it was really predictable and boring. There are never any new ideas on here and nobody really does anything. Its just all talk...

And the same talk from the same people every time. I guess politics do that to you.

You can tell by the shape that our country is in. As long as we can't even begin to be wrong then no one gets to be right, and My America suffers for it.

But then what do i know?

Did you see Giuliani on the talking fox shows complaining Obama did not even mention the wars in the Sate of the Union Address? Shameful isn't it ?

He mentioned them seven times. From Keith Olberman

I do love it when Olberman points out such obvious lies, however Fox watchers will never see the lies.

Yes, I watch Fox too and listen to Limbaugh nearly every day.

When I first started reading this, I thought you meant the state of the union speech. Take out the "on here" and it describes the SOTU speech to the T.

Bill, Bill, Bill, using Keith Olberman as your truth source???????????

How do you know he is not lying to you like Fox lies to you? Because his politics match yours?

Nobody compares with Chris "Barack sends shivers down my leg" Matthews of PMSNBC's "Softball" fame.

He was all giddy after the SOTU speech with smiles & praise.

Of late, Keith "look at me, I'm smelling a fart" Olbermann (along with Rachel "Butch" Maddow) has actually been bashing Obama for actions that didn't back the neoprog agenda to the letter.

Joe, Keith played the speech segments where Obama mentioned the wars. And he played Giuliani complaining that Obama never mentioned anything about the wars and how terrible that a State of the Union address did not mention the wars we are in.

No lie there Joe...oh yeah...Giuliani lied...

He writes his own show. He is not a journalist. Like Fox and Limbaugh he is a cheer leader.

But the videos he shows are real.

Like the time Palin was on Oprah. Palin would say, "I never said..." and then Olberman would cut to a video where she did say"...". He did that with about a dozen clips of her lies to Oprah. Funny as hell.

Gotta wonder if she lies or just doesn't have the mentality to remember what she has already said.

Nobody's a Republican these days, and they pretend they never were. The Party Of No is suddenly a big nothing, thanks to cop-outs like,"Bush wasn't a Conservative," and "Palin is a victim of the left-wing media." The good news is that third parties never carry momentum over time, so the Tear Party should be chasing it's tail into oblivion in the next year or so, as well. If you didn't vote for McCain or Obama, you could have just as effectively voted for Mickey Mouse.
As for polls, CBS noted a sharp increase for Obama during and after the State Of The Union address, like 70% sharp. You will most undoubtedly delegitimize that, that's talkshow fans do, but then I'd just go poke holes in your survey polls, because that's what I do.
And Frank, yet another reference to man-love... I have a friend you should meet. He's smart, trim, financially secure and a great cook. You should come out of the closet and embrace your man-love, you'll be much happier. --->JMS

This was something that would have been very easy to do, and would have been applauded by both sides, and we all should demand it from all our representatives. The fact that the administration basically laughed it off concerning the CSPAN/Health Care promise he made, should give you an idea of how much they care.

The 5 day waiting period, for the people to look over the bills before they voted, was a novel idea, and should be done, as much as poosible. Too bad that can't happen when you puposely work behind closed doors, and also admit that you don't even need to read the bill! Nice sheeplike approach.

next
Phil, while I would most certainly applaud the openness Obama had hoped for, it became unfeasible. When Obama made the statement about C-Span, he didn't account for the rightwing media, which has insinuated itself into everyday governing. If the proceedings were televised, you'd have seen even more soundbites on Fox and on Rush, pullings statements out of context, distorting meanings to pander to the knuckle-draggers, and providing fodder for Beck and O Reilly. I wouldn't do that for people who want to force their agenda, either. It was a dose of political reality for a first-term president.
The Medicare prescription ripoff of the Bush Admin was done in secret as well, and nearly all the trillion-dollar-plus Iraq War spending was meted out behind closed doors under the guise of "national security." I don't recall seeing meetings on C-Span with Halliburton regarding no-bid contracts or Blackwater's privatizing of armies.
Transparency would at first seem to be best, but it's naive to think that showing the other players your cards is how to win at poker. It's an election year, both for Dems and Repubs, and they'll be playing closer to the vest than ever. Look for the right to hammer the "transparency" card harder than ever, even though they have no plans for their own transparency, and have never offered it.--->JMS

Speaking of rightwing media, did anyone watch coverage of Obama's meeting with GOP congressional brass? It was historic TV... I can't imagine Dubya ever submitting to talking-point questioning and haranguing, and Obama stole thunder from almost everybody who ground their axes. The coverage I watched split-screened other video outlets' coverage... all channels would show the Republican questions, but FoxNooz cut away when Obama's answers weren't to their benefit, and they showed commentary by the Foxy Friends instead. So much for Fair and Balanced... apparently, their opinions are more important than what the President Of The United States says. Or maybe when idiots start throwing talking-point stones, they can't allow the guy to bat them back in their faces in an election year, which he did in spades.

2012 prez-hopeful Mike Pence: (and I'm paraphrasing) "You shoved a stimulus down our throats saying that it would keep unemployment from going to 8%, now it's over 10%, and you gave the banks a lot of money!" (again, paraphrasing, he actually rolled out every catch-phrase in recent Fox history in his "question")
Obama: (paraphrasing again) "December '08, 650 thousand jobs lost. January '09, 700 thousand jobs lost. February '09, 650 thousand jobs lost. All before my stimulus plan took effect. Since then, job losses have decreased month-on-month. Banks are also still afloat."

And that was just the first question. When the Repugs painted him as unwilling to cooperate with their healthcare and other plans he pointed out that their version of "cooperation" consisted of him rubber-stamping anything they wanted, which does not constitute cooperation. He also deftly argued that nobody was willing to give up earmarks inside their own districts, and a lot of GOP congressmen have posed at a lot of ribbon-cuttings where Stimulus money was used.
There was a lot of posturing by the righty-tighties, and the dude easily chilled their sh*t like he was playing The Dozens. The fact-checkers checked his responses, too. The only thing he got wrong was Jeb Heserling's first name, but I think he was calling him "Jim" to eff with him, which is one of my favorite ways to unsettle opponents.
All in all, Republican politicians asked rambling questions that were mostly comments designed to make themselves look tough on Obama. Bad move. The politician Obama is a debate machine, and is far more capable than the oversimplified rightwing would want to admit. A lot of stone-throwing left a lot of the throwers ducking for cover.
Of course, the right will spin this as arrogance. Good. It's about time we see a leader step up and push the bullies into the pool.--->JMS
